Getting all 70s and rereading The Exorcist. What're you up to?
I'm all 1850s and reading Moby Dick. An excellent read, by the way.

I got all 80s and watched "Twice Upon a Time". And wishing I could make it down to LA when Cinefamily shows it on a big screen.

All right now here. Wife's birthday. Hanging with friends.

Staying up way past my bedtime, as I'm apt to do on Sundays, revising and printing out a test for my kiddies tomorrow on Julia Alvarez's, In the Time of the Butterflies. Had to reboot my network yet again to get the wireless printer to work with my iPad (I knew I shouldn't have bought Cisco, dammit). Down to about four and a half hours before I have to get up and shower and go to work. Feh.

(Never read the book, Ardiril, but the movie still freaks me out. I bet the book's even scarier.)

Eating everyone else's food, and peanut butter and marmalade sandwiches, and yawning a lot because I should probably go to bed.

Trying to "finish" the house (still major wall work needed in the living room and den; husband has been heroic with reworking the electrical stuff) and moving in next weekend regardless. Been packing and moving boxes over every day to make it go more smoothly. Renovating a house for 4 months with the in-laws deeply involved has been "challenging." I am a leaf on the wind.

Been watching Burn Notice on NetFlix.
Reading Dean Koontz's series reworking Frankenstein theme and liking it.

Eat, work, pack. Nothing too cerebral.

ooh, never read the Exorcist, but the movie has freaked me out a number of times. Do I dare read it?
(although I still crack up thinking about the Richard Pryor skit on SNL. "The bed is on my foot!")

Blatty is a very colorful writer. From the opening scene: "The man in khaki shook his head, staring down at the laceless, crusted shoes caked thick with debris of the pain of living. The stuff of the cosmos, he softly reflected: matter; yet somehow finally spirit."

Merrin is a research scientist first, and a priest second. The movie glosses over that.

Enjoying the new Spacehog album. Bookwise, I just finished Iain M. Banks' "Excession," am now moving on to Walter Moers' "The City of Dreaming Books."

I'm all 2010s and setting up my iPad. It's all Pips' fault, she totally got me hooked on it when we went to see her mom. Someone at work was selling a nearly-new iPad for £100 less than the retail price so I couldn't resist. Not sure about this keyboard, though, I might end up with one of those Bluetooth ones.

I'm a baaaad influence, I know (Apple owes me a pile of commissions already)... Enjoy your new purchase, Senyar! I was thinking it might be good for my mom. She's not the most techie person, but she has used a computer before, and I think the touch screen might make it more usable for her. She went nuts this weekend for the live hawk cam. And she could read books on it, of course, with any size font she needs. And if I could somehow teach her FaceTime (after I teach myself), how awesome would that be. The new, larger Kindle Fire might be a less expensive option for her. They start at a bargain $269, compared to the iPad, much as I love my iPad. We'll see.

I have the wireless Apple keyboard, which is so light you can take it with you, and I love the feel of the keys. Only thing is apparently the batteries can get stuck in there if they sit a long time and corrode, so I just take the batteries out when I'm not using it. Course, there are a gazillion keyboards out there. I do recommend a stylus, though, if you don't have one already. I'm a fast touch typist, but I find I've gotten pretty quick pecking the on-screen keyboard with the stylus. The Targus stylus is the best, IMHO. The fatter contact tip actually works better than the skinnier tip. In any case, enjoy! If you're anything like me, you'll have a hundred plus book samples in your library in no time. Good thing samples at least are free. The Zinio app is good for magazines, too. I get Poets & Writers that way. Looks amazing, and so easy to flip through, enlarge the type.

Thanks Pips. I've a lot of books on my PC in e.pub format which I can read in iBooks by emailing them to myself and then selecting 'open in iBooks'. That puts 'em straight into iBooks.

I have a stylus I bought for my phone, so I'll give that a try. I'm sure in a day or two I'll have some questions about apps and stuff.

Aww, I love Twice Upon a Time.
"They tap dance not, neither do they fart."

Just ate goat, after I got it all over the kitchen floor. Did not eat floor goat. The "lamb" is surprisingly much gamier, unless I mixed them up, but the "lamb" is so muttony if figured it must be mutton, while what I think was goat was like a mix of lamb and beef. It could be that all the spices have obscured the flavor, but I'm too full of Indian food to try more right now. The couple who owned the restaurant were very sweet. Besides them and one clerk, everyone's been a bunch of creepy jerks today.

Pips, you can also get lots of free complete books on Amazon, although the writing quality is somewhat spotty. I've found over 100 so far, plus pretty much any of the 'classic' novels are available free anyway. I find them by searching on the Amazon store for "0.00".

I also have the Apple wireless keyboard and love it. It's not quite as convenient as the cases with built-in Bluetooth keyboards, probably, but I don't like to put a case on something that is so nice to hold as it is. I have found touch-typing on the touch screen to be much easier than I was expecting (poor skills combined with giant gorilla-like hands don't help), but it's nice to have a proper keyboard sometimes.

I've been all 20th Century watching The Story of Film: An Odyssey a british TV series about the history of movies. Interesting stuff but the writer/narrator has this monotone irish accent that makes you work hard to stay awake. If you're interested in movies, it's on Netflix and worth a watch.

Let's all go see Art tonight at 7 in NYC || So what's the deal with this Bioshock thing that everyone's going on about?
