Those who do not know history are doomed to repeat it. This image* reminded me that there is almost an entire generation now using Tumblr that may not remember Mary Tyler Moore's TV production company. Makes you feel old, doesn't it?[More:]
To which I wish to add this self-link to an old thing I wrote as Wendell. A fun topic and one of my best examples of keeping my tendency to blather under control (and I still wonder if the guy who made the illustration based it on a picture of me... just with more hair).

I have been watching the MTM Show on Hulu, and for the most part, I don't think it has aged at all well. Not so much because it is quite culturally dated, but functionally, the writing has a very forced feel to it. Quite different from Newhart or WKRP. Now that I see James Brooks was a primary writer of the MTM Show, and further, other shows he has written, that explains a lot.

Wow. I had no idea you were Wendell. How's Pismo these days?

Oh, and now that I've read your piece, I like it. Brought back some memories. When I started reading it I kept thinking if he'll mention the Cannell, and yes, you did. But, I didn't see the "Sit Ubu, sit." one in there...

I wonder how many women owned a TV production company back in the seventies. I bet Moore was one of the few and far between.
