Of sharks and the jumping there-of: is the TV show Bones still any good? Should we start watching Dexter again?[More:]
My wife and I, winding down for the day, watched the roller derby episode of Bones, and we realized we had missed a few more episodes, but we didn't know if we cared enough to catch up again. Was that an off episode, or has it really run out of steam in season 8?

And we used to really enjoy Dexter, but stopped watching in season 2 or 3. Looking online, it's still going, and is up to season 6. Is it worth picking back up?
I can't really speak to the goodness of Bones, but I watch it just for the randomness of the episodes. (How many ways can people trip onto a body?)

I've been following the latest season on Hulu, but I hadn't watched it since several seasons ago (and even then it was pretty sporadic).

Still hooked on Bones, here. It is lighter than before but still fun.

I love The Good Wife. I wonder if that will ever jump the shark.

I still watch Dexter . It is still keeping things interesting and I think the next season or two, as they wind the series down, will be really good

I've never seen "Dexter." I really like "Bones," but it's partly a holdout from loving David Boreanaz from "Buffy" and "Angel" and John Francis Daley from "Freaks & Geeks," and partly due to girl crushes on Michaela Conlin and Tamara Taylor.

I have read critiques saying that once Bones and Brennan got together, the show lost steam, so there's certainly people backing up the shark-it-is-jumped perspective.

I've always watched it in a very episodic fashion, where the overall arc was less important than the individual-episode arc, and I haven't seen any dropoff.

(That is to say: The show very well may have jumped the shark, in a larger sense, but I haven't noticed it doing so episode to episode.)

Hmm. We'll give it another try or two. To be honest, we were both distracted with our own laptops, so the show was already competing for our attention.

I'm glad to hear Dexter is still good. We had a weekly viewing party, but then the partiers parted ways, and we had other things to keep us busy.

Bones can be horrifyingly bad, from shockingly ham fisted to painfully awkward, especially if it tries to address an issue or have a "special episode." I occasionally catch up to see what they shove into random mouths and the few characters they have left intact.

The use of veterans stories in Bones has become painful. I'm all for supporting vets but it has made for some, as eth said ham fisted and painfully awkward episodes. Some really bad writing.

We are only 3 episodes into this past season of Dexter and not feeling it at all.

Another vote for The Goodwife. Great writing and acting. The Celinda's husband arc was a bit off but minor.

We stopped watching Bones quite a while ago, after a particularly long season hiatus. But, it had definitely lost its mojo long before that. I started losing interest after Eric Millegan left the show, but really threw-in the towel when they followed-up Angela's (scripted) pregnancy with Deschanel's real pregnancy. They should have ended the show when they had planned to, with the season that ended with everyone going off in their own directions.

As far as network procedurals go, we're enjoying the Holmes/Watson update Elementary.

I always think it maybe be worth catching up with Dexter, but I'm only enduring everyone else for Michael C. Hall. Haven't seen anything this Rita died.

All for the Good Wife, if only it had more Alan Cumming and Carrie Preston.

Now I'm wondering if I should cave in and check out Elementary.

Oops. Sorry if that was a spoiler; if it helps, I only saw that season because I heard Dexter killed Rita and Lithgow was amazing. But then I find seen a current issue or ep of something makes me figure out if I really want to know what happened or not.
