18 January 2013

so freaky in my own brilliant way I managed to find myself going to an office all day while having to finish a side work project at night. so I spent Mon-Thu with a combined like 6 hours of sleep total (1-2 hrs a day) but surprisingly without physical/mental degradation. Well on Thurs night and I'm just sitting there in my home office trying to wrap up something at 4am and I'm like 80% asleep.[More:]

And I felt that I was in the corporate office, with you know, overhead lights, a large floor etc., corridors etc. And my eye wanders and I realize with a flash that the visual, tactile, aural environment is totally different, I'm at home! OMG! It was a total complete hallucination
That, unfortunately, sounds kind of familiar...

Hope you can sleep now!

I did finally sleep 5 hrs on Th night (it's Fri afternoon here) but after I got up I suddenly was very fatigued and now I'm just exhausted. So I don't know what was biologically going on there that I could run on empty for a few days but suddenly crashed after getting a little continuous sleep

I've had hallucinations in the past when I've been up for 2-3 days (the most notable being seeing a stairway handrail waving back and forth while the stairs and everything else were normal--it wasn't freaky though I could recognize it as just a visual aberration.) This particular thing felt like out of Jacob's Ladder it was a genuine complete situational transformation... I was probably half dreaming I guess

Yes, the mind needs to dream and will do so even if you're not asleep. It is one of the major dangers of sleep deprivation.

I'm impressed.
For me getting enough sleep is essential for doing my work.
Just a little less sleep and I notice that I start being slower in understanding, slower in getting things done, less effective socially.

yeah I guess I was significantly aided by the fact that the day/office job did not involve any real work yet, just talking planning and getting initiated...
