I Met Jonmc at the Strand over Christmas Break and He Recommended a Great Book The book is Ladie's Man, by Richard Price, and it was fantastic. Definitely the kind of read folks who like Philip Roth or Charles Bukowski would enjoy, but not necessarily defined by it's "man's book about manly things" slant.

While I'm up, does anyone need anything?
I could really use some french fries.

Glad you liked it, dude. Did Miko enjoy her recommendation?
Also , what happened to the pix you took?

and french fries do sound good.

Jonmc! I went to the library this evening and selected Lush Life also. I have a feeling that I'm going to smoke through R. Price's whole gig in a month.

Fries.

Ya gotta love the scene with the old guy and his teeth in the strip club -- my personal favorite!

my fave scenes from that book are the shouting match on Swapline and the opening scene with La Di at the cabaret.

Been there. Done that. Even if jonmc told his coworkers that we were from Washington, rather than Oregon. Fun though.

I recommend Low Life to anyone who hasn't read it.

I could use a haircut, send one in please.

I remember way back when jonmc recommended the works of R. Price to me as well.

It almost seems like a MetaChat rite of passage to get that book recommended to you by him in person. :)

Get him to talk about Tim Sandlin's stuff sometime as well.

Washington, Oregon... you're all just a bunch of hippies to us. ; )

The real "rite of passage," actually, is Infinite Jest.
