So...I had to cut an ungodly amount of fat from a cheapish pork shoulder. And now I have a container literally full of solid white pork fat. What can do with it? what will use it all up?
Candles, soap, masturbation...

If you don't want to eat lard (though why not) once you melt it you have suet. You can mix sunflower seeds or other birdseed into it, pour it into muffin tins, let it set and you'll have winter bird-food nuggets.

But yeah, lard is great. It makes the best pie crust by far. Just be aware that rendering is somewhat fragrant. Put a lid on the pot, use a low temperature, and strain it for cracklings when done.

Do you have a fireplace/ wood stove? I use grease to start fires. In fact, because we have a septic tank, I go out of my way to keep grease out of the drain. I use paper towels to degrease pans, and then use the paper towel as a fire starter. It appears to be ok for the chimney, but sometimes I go outside, and it smells like steak, which makes me hungry.

Rendering lard. It really does make good pie crust, and probably would make delish roasted veggies, not that olive oil isn't tasty.
