As ever... looking for a livestream link for the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade...this happens every year, because NBC is hopeless at this. Any ideas? Also, beware as there are hundreds of fake livestream links - if you've found one that really works, I'd be really happy!
This might be good. It has commercials and such but i looks like the parade.

Ah, my firewall won't let me. I go through this every year. Geez, I really don't want TV, but if there were a service where I could just buy the THanksgiving Day Parade, the Oscars, the State of the Union, and a handful of Red Sox Games, I would pay handsomely.

Check the parade post on ONTD- they usually have links to working feeds.

They changed the route and I can no longer watch it from my window.

That's a bummer, brujita. Watching out the window was probably so fun! I didn't realize they moved the route to Sixth Ave until today.

The change was unfortunate. There is a Time's Square Cam but no parade.

NBC really button's down the parade for commercial reasons. It was hard to find even one stream. The few minutes I watched on the Stream2Watch link all the floats shown where just tacky moving commercials. Not at all like it was when I was a kid. I suppose it would be cool to be there though, and not hear the commentary.

I had an aunt and uncle who lived right on Central Park. One Thanksgiving about a decade ago I spent the whole morning watching the floats, some of which were at eye level right outside their window. Crazy rich relatives.

My mom and I watched the parade sreetside once in Times Square a few years ago - a change from my usual preferred spot further north. It was probably the most dangerous crowd experience I've ever had. The configuration of barriers there meant that people were pushing and shoving to an extreme - more than usual for any city - degree, elbow-throwing and aggressive shouldering and such, to the point where a few people were beginning to panic and here and there it was turning ugly. It definitely gave me a sense of why cramming a lot of people in a small space is a bad idea.

I'm not certain that's why they moved the route, but I could understand if it were. I suspect it's much easier to control the stream of people in a normal streetscape than it is to control some of the bays created by the weird Times Square barriers - there was just no way to step back and escape from the crowd if you started to lose it. But on a regular street you can just opt to move back, you don't get funneled into what's essentially a cattle pen. .

I suppose it would be cool to be there though, and not hear the commentary.

As a big big parade fan, I definitely recommend you go sometime if you can. I've gone 6 or 7 times and really love it. However, it is a different experience than watching on TV. You don't get the commentary, and you don't see the performances at HErald Square that they show on TV. You see celebrities waving from floats but you may not know who the hell they are. It's hard to stand for such a long time, and you have to get there early, and then make your way back through the crowds. If the weather's raw it's tough. But you get the actual experience, which is of a parade with brassy marching bands, floats, dancers, costumed balloon holders, the amazing balloons, candy being thrown and people interacting with you - which is cooler in a lot of ways than watching on TV. It's a highly recommended experience! Nothing like it. But if I can't be there, I do want to watch on TV. It's a tradition.

Mmmm yes, I could only recognize the ba/falloon characters , not the people on the floats...except CeeLo Green last year.

The first time I saw the parade live was in '86 with my cousins on the sidewalk somewhere off of Central Park.

The New Years Eve crowds have expanded up to where I live 3/4 of a mile from Central Park and I've had to flee the city.

I let Casey St. Clair know that she and her TGT co-workers had my back if they chose to strike today.....but of course they had people willing to include them at their holiday.
