I just won't wear a suit - but what do I wear instead for my college interview on Tuesday? It's at Starbucks. I am not the most sartorially savvy - or equipped, honestly - so I really don't know what to do. I'm inclined to just wear my (all-khaki slightly worn) school uniform, but surely I can invest more effort than that? I am a girl, and all I have is too bright or informal. Help please?

A school uniform could work, particularly if you are coming right from school. You could also do:
*Nice slacks, top, cardigan
*Skirt (at the knee), blouse
*Work appropriate dress (sweater dress, wrap dress, sheath with cardigan)

If you don't own any of those things, perhaps some shopping is in order? You deserve it. I'm sure whatever you wear will be lovely. Make sure you come to the interview looking neat- hair combed, face blotted so as not to look shiny. And smile! Good luck!

I agree with TPS. Slacks or skirt, top, and cardigan would probably be ideal. Can you take part of your school uniform and combine it with some of the rest of your wardrobe?

Which college it is may make a difference. I assume that if you're a suit refusenik, your goal would not be a college that over-values suits.

Yes, it's a liberal arts school. (: So I'm not particularly worried about being antisuit per se. It would also be super awkward in Singapore's weather and all too.
