12 November 2012

It's time for the 5th Annual Mecha Holiday Card Exchange! Signups open now through November 25th, 11:59 p.m. ET.[More:]

Email me at the address in my profile with your name, MeCha screen name, mailing address, email address where you want the mailing list sent, and anything else you'd like people to know (special mailing instructions, etc.) I'll send out an address list broken up into groups shortly after the deadline. The groups are generally 7-8 people, but you can send to everyone on the list if you want! Groups generally include at least one person outside the US. I cannot take requests for group assignments (i.e. "Please don't put me in so-and-so's group.")

Let me know if you have any questions! I already ordered my cards and I am excited :)
I am so in! I've had my cards since May (found improbably perfect wintery cards in a little shop and have been excited about sending them ever since).

Also, thanks so much, TPS, for organizing this again.

If I have a permanent home by then, I'm so in! I always love this.

I am in again! Don't have cards yet... better get on that.

I was a jerk and signed up last year and didn't send my cards. In my defense, the post office went on strike. This year I am in without fail!

Last year I didn't send my cards until almost Valentines Day. Pregnany exhausted me!

Question from a first timer.
So do we just send regular cards or does everyone get all super duper crafty and awesome and then I feel like an ass for sending regular cards to my listees?

I always buy my cards.

Regular cards are 100% fine.

This is one of those things where it's the thought that counts.

In fact, it is entirely possible that people will get the same card I sent last year, because I don't remember who got what, and I have leftovers.

Can't this year. I have too much on my plate ensuring that the stuff in my home is safe and planning the star poet's memorial.

Hoooooooooooraaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay! I love the card exchange. (People will probably get the same cards as last year though since I tend to buy mine and often go for the same theme.)

I have all sorts of cards somewhere in the many piles of things in many places that need sorting, but I will probably get some new ones or even get up the energy to make something if possible. One never knows. And if you haven't moved, you may get something as well.
It's definitely gotten me into sending out cards in general far more, which I use to do a lot. Mail is great, when it's not all bad news and bills. My friends and I use to send each other all sorts of wacky stuff that I think you can't get away with as much any more: zines, nonstandard envelope collages and glitter that isn't anthrax, secrets under stamps.
Which reminds me, I need to go get more stamps.

Too bad, brujita, one of your card was one of the loveliest I got that one year.

You can send whatever kind of card you like. I send regular cards, some people send postcards and one year Ardiril made cards for everyone. Whatever you send will be greatly appreciated and will bring pleasure to the recipient.

Yes yes yes! I'm in!

I always send store-bought cards, with a varying degree of effort put into the choosing of them. One year, I asked the bf to pick up "non-denominational holiday cards" for me because I was super swamped, so that year I ended up sending non-holiday cards with frigging butterflies, because apparently that's how he interprets "non-denominational." Last year I had a private joke with myself on the cards, because they had a bunny and a snowman and said "Hoppy Holidays" which is seemingly cute, but to me the snowman looked like he was seriously menacing the poor little bunny, and I wondered if anyone else would get the creepiness factor, but hoped no one would actually think I was creepy. This year I just think they are neat and artisanal, but still store bought. Honestly, it's really just having good stuff and nice thoughts to look forward to in the mail for a month or so that matters to me instead of bills and crap, so I don't mind whatever cards people choose to send, I'm grateful for the thoughts.

thats great! I have lots of thoughts. Sometimes they are even good and clean...At the same time! I however don't have a crafty bone in my body.

In. Finally. Read about it last year and thought "well, what a nice idea." And it was. But it happened without me. NOT this year, bunnies.
