A quiet night in tonight, because last night was a late one, at the theatre seeing Taboo.
Tomorrow I'm going running with some beginners at 10am, their first training session, so it won't be too strenuous. Then football on TV.
On Sunday I'm going for a run early on, then I'm going on an Art Walk, where various galleries are being opened especially for us, and then afternoon tea. It was going to be at The Savoy, but unfortunately the hotel has booked out the room for a private party, so we're going to The Connaught instead.
On Monday it's Guy Fawkes Night, so I may go to the big display in Walthamstow, but that's not 100% certain as I have to be up early on Tuesday to go into the office.
Tonight, sushi and a movie with a friend. Tomorrow morning/afternoon, baking and football. Tomorrow night, another friend and a bottle of wine are coming over for a visit. Sunday, morning/afternoon baking and football, Sunday evening, trivia finals at a bar in Raleigh!
Tonight we are going to eat a giant amount of carrot ginger soup that I just made.
Tomorrow probably going to help out with the cleanup of Prospect Park. At night it's Ethan's dad's birthday dinner so we need to figure out how to get to the city.
Sunday is the surprise bday party, in the Bronx, and it is going to be super hellish getting there. I am dreading it! Plus his parents don't have power so we basically have to bring everything from Brooklyn that needs to be refrigerated.
I wish we had a car (with gas in it).
Tonight, carbo-loading dinner with an out-of-town friend who is running the marathon on Sunday. hoping we can get seated and served in a reasonable time frame, but I'm not holding my breath and will probably eat beforehand just to be safe.
Tomorrow, Halloween party at church in Queens. We didn't do anything this week because of the hurricane, so that will be fun. Oliver will be dressed as a Newsie! Kind of lame, I wanted to do something more, but didn't get an fabulous ideas in time. At some point in my life with some child (mine or a stolen one), I have to do this.
Sunday, NYC Marathon cheering, I think, unless the weather is horrendous.
I'm going to the Chihuly exhibit at the Museum of Fine Arts and to lunch with some friends Saturday. The rest of the weekend should be spent cleaning. I will probably instead avoid it and read instead.
Went out with mom today and picked up some super awesome fabric for wicked cheap at JoAnn's. Tonight I've got dance class and tomorrow morning I've got bellydance bootcamp.
I am determined to get my soverign goddesses paper done by the end of the weekend and I also need to make up little table flyers for Chat and Craft (my new event that I'm hosting!).
And at some point I need to put in my application to refinance my mortgage because pops has been fussing at me to get that done because he wants THAT done by the end of the year.
1. Watching Weeds (season 7)
2. Bathed the dog (she seems to have come down with an allergy, we think it's wheat, culling treats w/wheat, bathing with special soap, etc.). She smells nice now.
3. Watching a movie (either The Help, Ghost Protocol or The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo; from the library; all will be watched at some point)
4. Trip to Home Depot Saturday (fake xmas tree needs new lights)
5. Really need some fabric to recover the free chairs the mister snagged a few weeks ago, so maybe a trip to JoAnn's, too
Took one of my best friends to the ER early this morning with severe back pain that had been going on for a week - turns out she has a swollen lumbar disc, not good. She was going to throw a halloween party tomorrow night but of course that's out and honestly I'm kind of glad. Not that she's hurt, god no, but I just haven't been much in the party party mood lately. Anyway I'm working tomorrow all day (we don't have weekends in retail of course) and now that I won't be spending Sunday lying on the couch moaning, recovering from Saturday night, I think I might actually catch up on some desperately needed household chores.
Finally got our power back today, so I've spent the evening after work catching up online.
Tomorrow, more work, plus babysitting three geriatric animals for a coworker on vacation: a 14 year old rabbit, a 17 year old cat, and a 6 year old ferret. Hoping to see some family members coming up to help my brother (he had damage to his home from Hurricane Sandy) and to also see where their church can help needy folks around here in NJ. My Aunt and Uncle's church has been very involved over the last several years helping rebuild areas of Katrina damage; now they are willing to help around here as well. This is a quick trip to help my brother, and to hopefully set up connections so they can bring their crews back to start rebuilding.
Sunday, probably more work. We'll see. It's up to me at this moment, and frankly, I am so exhausted (overtime every day this week) I'm not sure I really want to, even though I can use the money.
Spent the early evening last night with work friends at our local brewery/food truck spot. It was lovely, and just what I needed to catch up and be social for once. I'm also recovering from a long work trip and getting ready to go on the next one tomorrow. So today is laundry, Costco, and chores.
1. Finally saw Cloud Atlas last night, amazing film. Need to see it at least one more time in the theater.
2. Heading out to the country to a bonfire at a friend's house (no Guy Falkes connection as far as I know). This is Pittsburgh so inner city to deep country is only a 25 minute drive.
3. Need to do something about cleaning this house.
TV and home internet still out. Out since last Wednesday. Street's blocked off for downed tree removal and wire repair. Could be awhile. Watching a marathon of Northern Exposure. We have Seasons 1 and 2. Really makes me want to visit Alaska. Carnival has a cruise from Seattle up through Alaska. If not next summer, maybe the summer after.
Heard from a good friend of ours who lives in Hawaii. Kind of lost touch over the years, but it sure was good to hear from him. He wanted to see if we were okay after the hurricane. Sweet of him to think of us. Hope we can keep in touch.
Gonna make some chicken later, parmesan encrusted. I've been trying some new recipes. Made lightly breaded tilapia with a lemon butter sauce last night. Week or two ago, broiled shrimp with a mixture of olive oil, butter, lemon, worcesteshire, tabasco, salt, pepper (Pioneer Woman recipe -- calls it "barbecue shrimp." It's easy and real yummy).
Loooooooove Chihuly. Envious of y'all who get to see the exhibit.
I went to a late lunch with my dad yesterday, as per our Friday tradition.
Today I finished reading my licensing exam review materials (woo!) and so am gearing up for the exam. Then I went to the gym, then I ate a huge plate of pasta, then I was happy.
Hoping to go to the dog shelter tomorrow, and then the gym. I'm planning a dinner of short ribs for later in the week, and so I need to start gathering up ingredients, too.
