The Omni Magazine post in the blue reminded me of a name linking series game that was a contest in it, and which I thought could be a good MeCha challenge [More:]

The idea is to link as many names together as you can with some sort of relationship between the names. A popular link at the time was "Louis Leakey--Farrah Fawcett" The better ones have some overriding theme rather than just a link of names. Like they might all be philosophers names, or the links have a theme. I remember one Christmas break my oldest brother was visiting, and we were up in the mountains at my parents cabin, and we had a great time coming up with these while sitting in front of the fire with the snow coming down outside. A snippet of one of our best was:

"Madeline Kahn--Imannuel Kant--George Will--Daisy May"

Omni published the winners which, if I remember right were up in to the 20 links. If someone remembers the rules better, please update us here. So let's see what the MeCha bunnies can come up with!
Games magazine once had a contest in which the goal was to create a continuous chain of famous names - i.e. Minnie Pearl Buck Henry James Dean Martin Lawrence Taylor Swift.

The winner was a chain over 1,000 names long, I think.

That's pretty amazing. I like when something chain-like comes up in everyday conversation. Like peanut butter and jelly roll. Not quite sure how that would come up in any given day, but that's the first example I could come up with.

Hmmmm. I've played something like this before, but it had two rules: 1) category of stuff, like albums, or songs or food, and 2) start with the last letter of the THING before it in the chain. So, say food: apples, sandwiches, soda, anchovies...

I don't really know how OMNI would've played it, though.
