Looking for fitted sheets that fit my specifications as well as my bed Recently I went shopping to replace the fitted sheet on my bed, and was confronted with these shopping options: I could buy a replacement fitted sheet of a yucky quality for $15, or buy a whole new set of decent quality sheets for $30.

I bought the new set. But I'm wondering if it's possible to buy a decent quality, (say, 300 thread count) fitted sheet by itself so that the extra top sheet and pillowcases from my old set can be turned into a very useful second set of sheets for my bed. I went to the Eaton Centre yesterday and could only find fitted sheets in ivory for $40 or $50. So far I've looked in the Bay, Winners, Sears, and on Amazon and a couple of other boutique-like places. Only the larger, department-style places even seem to have the components for sale separately.

Any suggestions? I can't the only one who has this problem and resents the waste it causes.

The Company Store sells some of their bedding separately, I believe.

No, can't think of a suggestion. I just dropped by to congratulate you on spending more for decent quality sheets. This is one area where I think quality makes a big, big difference.

Also, if you go the whole sheet set route again, I can't say enough good things about the quality of flannel and cotton sheets from Pinzon.

I've checked The Company Store and eBay and I'm not seeing a queen-sized ivory fitted sheet for less than $40. It's just not worthwhile to pay more than about $20 for a fitted sheet when I could get a whole new set for $30. Arghh.

How about Target for $18.99? You have to click on the colored boxes to get the color name (I'm seeing ivory as the 4th from the right).

For 300? I'm sure you can find them online pretty cheap. It's when you go twice that and up the prices get pretty steep, but during a sale I got my latest set of 750 for a good price at overstock.com. I like extra flat sheets but I can't remember where I got them since I haven't gotten anything but a set in a while. I'm thinking department stores and hotels. Always look for the sale.

I didn't realize Target had an online store. Not as fun as browsing in a brick 'n' mortar store, but still. Can't wait til they open shop here in Canada. They'll fill a necessary niche.
