Audition mojo? So, I'm auditioning to get into this troupe as a frontstage singer, and I'd like all the mojo I can get, please? [More:]

My boyfriend and I discovered them when they put on "Utopia Limited" last spring, and when I learned that they were an amateur dramatics society that raises money for charity, I thought that I'd found the next non-profit that I'd volunteer with.

The audition process started with an open "Meet and Greet" that I forgot to attend, and then a week ago there was a slightly formal cocktail party at a beautiful townhouse on the Upper West Side where you got to meet the audition committee. My frontstage audition is tonight (a day before my birthday!), and I think I'm going to be singing "Wouldn't It Be Loverly?" from My Fair Lady. If I don't make it as a frontstager, there's always the option of being on crew, which I'm happy with as well.

But enough about me; what new and interesting things have you learned about that you'd like to try?

Great song choice. That's one of my standards at the piano bar. I always sing it with a Mockney accent that'd make Dick Van Dyke proud.

I practiced singing it with a Mockney accent, but I kept losing focus on the notes. Which is funny because when I'm just singing that song for kicks, the accent goes over well. But the minute I start taking it seriously, it goes away.
