Share What is your new favorite thing? [More:] I've delved into slobdome. I crockpotted some fresh plum tomatoes and herbs. Used imersion blender to pulverize and put over pasta.

But the worst/best is I put it in a bowl, poured glass of wine and lounged in a tub of water eating, sipping and turning into a prune.

Luxurious and it's so easy to clean up the inevitable spilt tomato sauce.
My life is about treading water for the rest of the year. I joined LA Fitness and signed up with a trainer, so that has both blown my budget and determined my lifestyle for the foreseeable future.

Popular culture has pretty much lost momentum in providing anything amusing or entertaining.

This year's harvest in the northwest has been plentiful and high quality, so I have been enjoying the absolute best in fresh fruit and veggies. I never would have thought I could eat so many cherries in a season that I would grow bored with them.

Here is my new favorite thing. I've been watching it for several hours without pause.

Wow, Hugh, that is mesmerizing.

Beyond the baby (he's new!), I'd have to say my new favorite thing is "How I Met Your Mother". Can't wait for Netflix to post season 7! Need more Barney in my life.

I've gotten to the point where I'm imagining heads on those shoulders and then wondering why they have feet for hands.

Grilling on our roof. Our building just got gas grills installed on the roof, so we went up and had burgers for dinner. Drinking wine, eating burgers, overlooking the Manhattan skyline. Very nice.

The other new (to me) thing is Downton Abbey. I am always a late adopter of shows because I hate getting sucked in and having to wait too long for a new season (exception: Mad Men, I was on that from teh start). Anyway, DA is melodrama at its absolute finest. Love.

The way The Bees always looks completely surprised when i fart.
"What in the world was that and where did it come from?"
She's finally living with me again so I suppose it's kind of new. She's been hiding somewhere filthy during the days and always smells dusty when it gets dark and she comes out.

My iPad is still kinda new and every day I am glad to have it. I know that makes me sound like a commercial but seriously I am writing this on it, listening to music, and waiting for dinner to cook from a recipe in another tab.
Also I downloaded about 20 books on it last night and I love that I am not adding to our huge physical book collection. I have been feeling ill recently and already read 3 this weekend.

Self-confidence. It's kinda hit or miss, but it's neat when I have it.

My favorite new thing is a used Colman generator that a friend gave me. Let me repeat that, Gave Me! I've cleaned it all up and serviced it. Now it's ready for our frequent winter power-outs.

I'm SOOOOOO psyched! No more repeatedly loosing sll the food in the fridge. No more worries about storing my insulin. No more incredibly cold nights with no lights or internet, or having to spend a fortune on batteries. AND, I can bring an extension cord to my neighbors house so they can have a little juice, too. WooHoo!

I'm feeling more secure (materially) than I have in a long time. This has truly been a great blessing.

Festivals. Although I keep wavering on how I feel about going to Fires of Venus, I can't deny that it definitely has had an impact on me. (Now I'm looking forward to my next two festivalish events in September!)

Ardiril: You're in the relatively "new" place now near the kid, no? Good for you for getting into shape.

RM: I love my iPad. I carry it like a security blanket everywhere and it's my friend when I need to shut off. Anything good installed?

Hugh: that might be my new favorite thing now.

We just adopted two new mice from the humane society last Friday and they're my newest favorite thing. So favorite that I tried to hold them for the first time last night. Hazel was good, Nutmeg got away and spent half an hour under the entertainment center. Unfortunately, it was about 2am, so I had to wake up the boyfriend to help me catch her. It all ended well but I suspect it's time to buy some humane traps in case this happens again. Nutmeg will not be loose except for tub time in the (closed) bathroom until she calms down a bit. I will have pictures soon, I hope. They're adorable.

Trashy weekend movies on cable. Not really new, but my standards have gotten even lower. This weekend was The Land That Time Forgot (anything's pretty good at 4am), and, wait for it, Snow Beast (wonderfully horrible). Snooooowwww Beeeeaaast!

Ooh, Pips reminded me: black and white melodrama-ish movies. I've been watching old adaptation of Agatha Christie novels and plays (which were my old favorite thing) and it feels all warm and snuggly like reading her novels ... is? does? Lost the sentence, there. Anyway. Old movies! Good!

Music. Not a new thing for me, but over the last couple of years I've reached a new level in my playing and it means I have some really exciting experiences sometimes, both performing and just playing for the hell of it. It's very hard to describe how it feels when you play with others and not only get your own part right but feed off the collective talent and emotion in the room in order to create something really special.

Sigh. The more I do it, the less I want to return to normal life afterwards...

Cooler weather and some rain. It's nice.

Yeeeeah, today's break in the weather is pretty sweet.

Other new favorite things: a new purple sundress. Playing along with MeFi's team for Health Month. Season 3 of "Community" on DVD. Keeping plenty of extra ice in the freezer so I can COMPLETELY FILL a glass with ice, then pour in water or juice to fill up the little nooks and gaps for a super-cold drink.

I have four right now:

1. I continue to love my Ipad2, RM and ED. Only an awesome Ipad4 (by which I do not mean a cheaper machine with a smaller screen) could ever replace it.

2. Riding my bike to and from the train this beautiful August, now even better since I put some air in the tires and got a breezy cool new helmet.

3. Listening to 11/22/63. I'm hooked. Don't want it to end.

4. The running summer "camp" I joined for August. Sad that I can't make two of our dates this week.
