I don't understand why rhythmic gymnastics isn't more of a mainstream sport during the Olympics. They do some amazing shit during those routines.[More:]Plus, it has more beaver shots than the regular gymnastics; isn't that what the women's gymnastics is all about, anyway? /snark

No, seriously, I think it's really cool and hope to see more of it in the future.

That is all.
I like the ribbon dancing the best. The other apparatuses, meh.

I've always found it fascinating, but it's not something the U.S. is competitive in, so it doesn't get much tv time here. There are a lot of good youtube videos if you want to see more.

Gymnastics, in general, is an odd thing. The athletic ability of the participants is obvious, and amazing to watch. But, I think events such as rhythmic gymnastics (and the floor exercises in general) strike a lot of people as being more like a dance school program than "athletic competition" (in the way the balance beam, or the uneven bars are athletic) And, the fact that gymnastics are judged makes things even harder to understand, because the difference between a winning routine and a 4th-place routing is quite often invisible to the average viewer.
