Bring your p(o)et to work day. Apparently, it's bring your pet to work day. For those who (like me) failed to heed the call, let's bring our poets to work instead. Or if you prefer, bring your pet![More:]

Here is John Cooper Clarke, commenting on the morality of tabloid newspapers. One of my favorites. Bear with the blurry video - the audio makes it worthwhile.
I think this'l really help my pets see the many career possibilities that lie before them, and perhaps it'll even improve our relationship once they see their human can-opener, kibble-delivery system, and litterbox sanitation enginner in a new light, important and capable.

I don't think taking my pet (large black cat) to work would accomplish much. When I used to work from home, he could usually be found slumped asleep behind my keyboard, with his head on the escape key.

Poets, though, that's a different story. There's been a strange focus in the UK this week on Clive James (including over on Metafilter) which has resulted in a flurry of obituary-like articles, even though he's still alive. Which is nice in a way, because it's made me remember what I like about him, and especially his poem "The Book of my Enemy has been Remaindered".

He'll probably live on for years now, out of bloody-mindedness.
