in the song Glad You Came by The Wanted, The second verse goes:

You cast a spell on me, spell on me
You hit me like the sky fell on me, fell on me
And I decided you look well on me, well on me
So let's go somewhere no one else can see, you and me

and that line about looking well on him comes off.. odd to me. Weird. I can't describe it exactly. Kind of derogative. (Even though I don't think the song as a whole is derogatory)

Does it seem like that to you? Does anyone really use that line anymore? I'm happy to hear other peoples opinions.

I think it just rhymed and the songwriter cranked it out. I kind of imagine pop songwriters sitting in dark rooms desperately typing because they have quotas to fill and they have to submit them to the Focus Groups immediately after hitting "save". I figure it's a three-minute process for each writing attempt, and every seven-millionth song is determined to be a winner.

I agree, though, derogatory and oddly phrased. But for me the weirdest part is that there's a popular song on the radio titled "I'm Glad You Came".

From the lyrics and video, she went to a party he was at.

I really like the song but never noticed the "look well on me" part. Then again I never noticed that the chorus of Train's Drive By features the lyrics "Just a shy guy looking for a two ply Hefty bag to hold my love" until I watched the Todd in the Shadow episode (which is quite entertaining).
