Is it possible to be in love with a publicly owned corporation?. . . . If you wanted to put a "do the right, awesome thing" in the dictionary, this would be a nice illustration.
Oh, that is just awesome.

Of course. They're people, after all.

ME TOO. I love this. I am going to go out of my way to shop at JC Penney's now. I mean it. I believe in voting with my dollars.

This is TOTALLY SWEET. Happy Father's day, guys.

This is why I don't view capitalism as inherently political.

I doubt that Penney's is really all that idealistic; I'm guessing that they just figured out that non-bigots have more money to spend than homophobes do. But it's nice to see that the idiots have lost so much power that a company like that can just tell them to get lost.

I like Penney's as a store generally, their stuff is usually better quality than Target's and cheaper than Macy's. Plus, our local Penney's is the one where they filmed Dawn of the Dead; I bought my wedding ring at the jewelry counter right at the bottom of this escalator.

What octo said. Clearly they did the math. But it's a good thing when the math says society has changed for the better.

Wonderful! Earlier this year they had a catalogue come out that had a lesbian couple with kids and one of the grandmothers on it.

I shopped JCPenney before they came out of the closet. When I was very broke, their San Fernando Valley 'Catalog Surplus Store' was the cheapest place (besides Thrift Stores) to buy presentable pants in my humongous size for cheap. (In fact, the Catalog Store had more Big & Tall Mens Sizes than their regular stores) When I moved out to the neverlands here, their catalog and website were still a top choice for many of my wardrobe items including the comfiest pair of slippers I've owned in years.

Sadly, their equally noble pricing policy - avoiding sales and coupons and other promotions in favor of 'fair and square' pricing - is apparently a big bust, speaking volumes about American shopping habits.

I've never bought from a JCPenney but now I may have to.

Penny's has a Sephora now. Went into one for the first time since the first time yesterday.

Man, do I have the skinny on Dress Barn now. I am going tomorrow. It may beat Liquor Barn.

Nothing beats Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms Barn.

JCP is the first place I shop as their petite clothes are decent and I like their house brand St John Bay. So I was unhappy to hear about their Q1 results. I love their new pricing scheme -- no more brain cells wasted on whether something will go on sale right after I buy it and whether I had a coupon -- and will be very sad if they kill it.

I guess it's time to start making those random mall purchases exclusively at the JCP's. Particularly in light of their other major recent news story, which foop mentioned earlier.
