Perpetual anticipation is good for the soul, but it's bad for the heart. I have two big things going on today. What's making you itch?[More:]First, we're hoping to close on a car that has taken us two weeks of haggling with the owner. It would replace my husband's terrible, horrible, no good, very bad Hyundai that looks like a rolling trash heap. Given that our "good" car has 205k on it, buying a Subaru Forester with 29k is a very exciting prospect indeed.

And then I have an audition tonight... which is funny because it's a callback for something I meant to audition for but didn't due to illness. I guess they trusted me. It's for A Little Night Music; I'd likely be the opening lady in that clip I linked above. I am totally unfamiliar with Sondheim, and it is HARD.
That's a wonderful show; I crewed it once years and years ago and never got tired of watching it.

*fingers crossed for goodness*

I'm itchy with a desire for more projects and shiny things than my bank account can stand. Or my patience, for that matter. I tend to get bored with things after spending hours and hours researching them.

I'm prevaricating between going running tonight with the group and going to the gym tomorrow instead to run on the treadmill. The sky keeps clouding over, then clearing, then clouding, but now it's grey and looks as if it might rain any minute. I need to decide in the next half-hour if I'm going tonight. It's looking less and less likely.

I'm also trying to organise a date with an interesting man I met recently, but he's a TV actor (currently filming Downton Abbey) and outdoor scenes are dependant on the weather. It's been so rainy here that if there's a chance of a fine day he'll be called away at short notice to film. So it's all a bit up in the air.

Senyar! YOU MUST TELL US MORE!

Okay; closing finally set for this afternoon. I want to drive that car so bad.

Also, I have 80% of a serial story's chapter written, but I need to connect the silly part with the romantic part, and it's really hard. And I really really want to get the story out there.

I am literally itching all over my chest; I think it's hormonal. Though lotion is helping a little.

1. Not sure if I've mentioned on MetaChat, but I'm working on putting together my own improv show, in a completely new form on a completely new subject. It's still in its infancy, but I am getting really excited (and impatient) about it.

2. Ordering some things (like a new seat; it still has the original '98 OEM saddle on it; the foam's all collapsed) for my nerd biker gang's annual spring get-together. Waiting for them to arrive so I can install.

3. Waiting for my debit card. My old one was compromised and I hate paying for things with cash.

4. Missing my favorite person.

lotion is helping a little.

Madamina, the actor guy is a 'character' actor - i.e. no Clooney, in fact he has a face like a bag of spanners, but he's funny and interesting, albeit a bit full of himself. He had a previous career as a Commander in the Royal Navy.

Oh, Eide. Forty lashes with a wet noodle.

"Francis is taking his bath."
"OH YEAH? WHERE ARE THEY HOSIN' HIM DOWN????"

Break a leg, Madamina! (I couldn't understand a thing they were singing. Dunno if that's me or them.)

Senya - that sounds so exciting tho' I laughed at "face like a bag of spanners"!

I've ordered both season one and two of Downton Abbey from the library, but season two is going to get here first (I'm 111 in line for season one). Oh well.

BUT! A friend has lent us the whole shebang of Battlestar Galactica so no more waiting on the library, yay!

My professional life has been perpetual anticipation for the past two years or so. The work my (state-based) team does is being taken over by a national agency, but we need to get legislation passed to make it happen. After over a year of working on the Bill, getting approval from what seemed like a thousand different people, we finally got the Bill into Parliament and it was next on the list to be debated when the pollies decided they'd rather have an early mark for the last day of the sitting. Two days later, Parliament was dissolved due to an election being called and our Bill lapsed.

Now that we have a new government, we have to re-start the whole process all over again. Except this time, we have only until 30 June to get it finished or chaos will reign in our little part of the world. Most of my staff (including me) have accepted great job offers with the new agency that will lapse if the legislation doesn't pass by 30 June, everyone is sick and tired of not knowing the future and I'm completely over the whole thing and just want some kind of decision to be made - I don't really give a flying fuck what it is at this stage - I just want to be able to get on with my job and get all this fucking around over and done with.

short term itch: my trip to Pittsburgh this weekend (though it may not happen as one of the friends is sick :( )

longer term itch: a week off in July -- two more months to go

lifelong itch: after x-rays and surgery, I'm all set to make progress on my super-secret project...
