I had a color monitor (a TV) but my computer was a hot-rodded RS Color Computer with only 40 characters per line, accessing Prodigy and local BBS's that supported FidoNET.
I missed out on the whole BBS world, didn't get online until '95 when I re-started my college career at Pitt and was able to use kermit and lynx to browse the web. (and Pine to send email).
Was going to say what amro said. Never saw color in the 80s and even the telnetting capability and a modem that fast would've been pretty advanced. In fact, when I discovered the Internet in 1992 it was not looking this cool at my college campus - had to use green Unix terminals.
I think the point is that IF Google had been around in the 80s, you WOULD have seen the color, regardless of your terminal. Because, you know, Google IS color. Magic, and all that.
