Sewing is so much faster when [More:]you use yarn and a darning needle!

Plus the sewn thing has this bonus nifty look to it.
Crochet hooks work too! :)

Cool! I was just thinking something similar. Being a fan of shabby chic ever since I realized I can't bear to donate my super-comfortable old sweaters just because they get all tatty around the neck and sleeves (and maybe because I feel like a Dickens character anyway), when a really comfortable pair of soft, thick cotton pseudo-dress pants (charcoal grey with a hint of red plaid) recently tore in the knee, I decided to get some thick black poly string and sew them up with big, wide-spaced stitches for that ragdoll/Frankenstein suture look. Kinda fun.
