arse_hat wins (although that car may no get past the starting line without either going airborne or burrowing into the ground)

and BoringPostcards expects this film to win an Oscar?

Still, when I saw "Hunger" and "spoiler" in this post, I thought it was a "can I eat this?" AskMe...

I know they want a new Twilight and it is a YA book, but, man, that was flat.
I'd like to hear from someone who hadn't read the book, because it just felt impossible to feel anything for any of those characters. But then I feel that way about Twilight for the most part. I just recently saw the last movie (while blitheringly drunk) and only knowing it from the comic recap: what a bewildering piece of crap. I do like how they do the whole Italian vampire thing, so maybe there is something to be had in the last one, but on the whole, it's unbearable.
Maybe they are suppose to be ciphers for kids to project their own emotions onto. Maybe that explains the whole lack of facial expression/acting. Does Lenny Kravitz have more than one facial expression?
I bet they make a second movie just because so many people will check this one out, but with the changes, who knows how they will do it.
All hail Stanley Tucci though, and Donald Sutherland is Donald Sutherland.

I thought it was OK. The girl can act, the flowers for Rue made me sad, and the violence was as much as one could expect from a big-budget PG-13 show.

I couldn't stand the Magic Negro/Fairy Godfather character - though Lenny did all right with it - and the deii ex machina came fast and furious.

Lenny Kravitz has two facial expressions: face 1, face 1 with eyebrow movement.

I didn't read the books and I really liked the movie. It was the right amount of non-gore for me and kept the excitement and tension up.
The world they created was really interesting and the comment on celebrity torture/worship and entertainment was good.

Jennifer Lawrence was well-cast, I think, because she seems tough but still looks enough like a child. I was surprised to like that Helmsworth guy. I didn't get the point of Lenny Kravitz or Elizabeth Smart's characters and could have done without them.

Didn't like the cheesy Rue flowers scene or the pin motif or the unnecessary mine shaft explosion flashback.

Were the rule changes and announcements handled better or more spaced out in the books? It seemed kinda rushed like everyone just wanted the games and the movie to be over.

The end was good- it felt like an ending and not a cliffhanger, but also left room for what is going to happen when they get home, or whatever the other books are about. It made me want to read the books.
