17 March 2012

On the 2-year anniversary of the death of Alex Chilton, here's a video of a choir singing Big Star's "Thirteen." (via)
I remember learning this on guitar.

One of my favorite songs ever... thanks for this.

I WISH I could play this song. I sorta learned "I'm in Love With a Girl" though. Chilton was a monster of talent.

Oh, you got me. It was "I'm in Love with a Girl." Funny, bright afternoon, three of us on a futon with guitars. Then someone talking about Thirteen being so awesome until they figured out what it may be about. I haven't thought of that in ages.

You really do learn something every day. I had always thought that Thirteen was an Elliott Smith Song

That's funny, eth. And, yeah, "I'm in Love With a Girl" is a helluva song too!

I thought this was a fitting tribute, but I like the original so much that I kind of disliked this. I kept imagining that Alex would have liked it, but I couldn't bring myself to do so. I fully admit this is probably my bias.

That was sweet, and it's my vary favorite Big Star song, but I really wanted a different arrangement. Some of the more complicated harmony lines were lost/ignored...

Is there anyway to get Tim Burton and Johny Dep to stop making movies? || A movie for Saturday night.
