How's your weekend going? 3-point update [More:]
1. I had a great day yesterday. I went on an Art Walk (the second one I've done, and I thoroughly enjoyed it). Then I met sueinnyc for dinner, where I broke my diet but thoroughly enjoyed it.

2. Today I'm doing housework. My bathroom is a health hazard (to me, anyway) and the weather is good enough to dry laundry on the line. I can't vacuum, though, because Lucy hates it, and usually she escapes outside once the Vax appears, but she had an operation on her paw last week and she can't go out until her stitches are removed.

3. I finally heard that I'll be getting a payout from the Equitable Life debacle (.pdf), a little more than I'd anticipated, but only about 1% of what I'd been told my pension fund was worth before Equitable Life came crashing down. So, I'll still be working when I'm 70, unless my other pension fund (the National Lottery) pays out.
1. Meeting my mom at the outlets this morning to window shop. Her birthday was Friday so I plan to take her out to lunch.

2. I've done none of the cleaning I should have done. So I guess that'll be the rest of my weekend. Unless I ignore it for another day and then rush around tomorrow night doing it.

3. Kitty cat figured out this week she can open the hallway closet doors if I don't shut them completely -- they both have a gap at the bottom so she sticks her paw under and pulls. So she's been driving me nutty with either opening the doors and being where she does not need to be or hitting at them trying to open them. Having smarter pets can be a pain sometimes.

1. Brought our sick kitty home from the hospital on Friday. She had stopped being able to eat which caused fatty liver disease. They think that it was caused by an infection because she was running a fever and had a lot of fluid in her abdomen. She's now on four medications and has a feeding tube going into her little neck. We have to pump cat food slurry into her every eight hours via a syringe. She's a very grumpy tortie right now.

2. Finally back to running after having a lot of issues with my back. I was too afraid to run for fear of hurting my back more but stupidly, as soon as I did start running my back started feeling better. I probably was causing more harm by not exercising.

3. Went to see John Carter last night which was very well done for being a big budget adaption of a cheap pulp novel.

Poor kitty, octo. John Carter got scathing reviews in the UK.

1. We went out both Friday and Saturday night, and we are off to a bbq this afternoon. It's unusual for us to be so outgoing, but it's been fun seeing all of our friends.

2. The dog days of summer have set in. It is hot as hell, with no breeze to ameliorate the torture. I sit in a darkened air conditioned room for the better part of the day.

3. We are leaving to go back to the States in a few weeks, and ramping up for that trip is leaving me a little stressed. I'll be happy once I get there, but until then I imagine I will turn into a white dwarf star of stress.

I hope everyone's cats feel better soon!

1. After a truly crappy work day on Friday I went to meet friends at Sammy's Roumanian for a Purim party which was hilarious and fun. They didn't have much for me to eat as a vegetarian, but they did have plenty to drink and the evening turned into a big dance party. There was a wedding and a birthday party also happening there, and everyone mixed together.

2. Saturday we tried a tex-mex place in the neighborhood for brunch but it wasn't that good. We went to an art walk as well (jinx, Senyar!) in Greenpoint which was really nice. I don't know that area very well and it was good to wander around. We stumbled on a great band (Bell Cycle) playing in a furniture store and had awesome sandwiches at No.7 Sub.

3. E just left to take his class on a volunteer trip to clean the wetlands of NOLA, so I'm now alone on cat duty for the week. I should be cleaning the apartment and doing laundry and working at the coop today but instead I might watch tv and dread going back to work tomorrow.

1. Spent Friday and Saturday with my mother who is on a one woman mission to put a dent in the national debt. However, I was a grownup on Friday and made doctor's appointments. I also managed to get some potting soil, planters, and seeds to start some little herbs and flowers growing. I need to write up my ritual for blessing the shit out of everything ASAP to get that done by the equinox.

2. Had Wicca class last night and was able to get through my Lughnasadh paper presentation without too much panicking. It turns out that the test for that class is in 4 weeks, not 6 like I had thought. Time to make flashcards!

3. Today: work. There was a party I could have gone to but I was already out for a few hours last Sunday and I'm taking off next Sunday for a ritual and my brother's birthday so I need to be responsible and get ALL THE WORK done today.

octo, sending whuffles to your cat!

1. Friday, some friends came over for dinner and a movie. We watched (mostly talked over) The Shining. They arrived, walked into the living room where I'd set up a modest bar including a bottle of rum & blood orange punch labelled REDRUM, and he said to her "You owe me a nickel." Yes, I am predictably dorky. (I toyed with a whole themed dinner but decided to take it easy, just dork out on the drink and the appetizer: layers of herbed yogurt dip and romesco sauce, with "REDRUM" written in romesco sauce on top.

2. This weekend, The Fella is working two day shifts, which means we have the rare pleasure of two weekend dinners together, and long evenings to relax. I really love when we get to have dinner together.

3. The weather is glorious: cool but sunny and clear. I need to get out for a good walk in the sun.

Sorry to hear about your kitty Octothorpe!

1. It looks like it's going to be really warm for the rest of the week! 60 F and up and going all the way to 70 F on Thursday. That's unseasonably warm for Ithaca, NY this time of the year.

2. After my boyfriend derailed our brunch plans by taking longer than he expected on something, he decided to make it up to me by taking me to an impromptu dinner to the nice Italian place in town -- it was delicious! I had the saltimbocca and he had the pappardelle with mascarpone and mushrooms.

3. Today I shall practice my driving by driving to the Piggery for sausages and lard. Then we'll work for some time before either a trivia game or a salsa class.

1. I watched the Nascar race and drank beer at what passes for a BBQ joint in Washington state. I'll give the place credit for their beef brisket, and their ribs have no fat on them whatsoever. That latter is not necessarily a good thing as I like a little fat on ribs, but then, "without fat" is almost as good as "without guilt".

2. I had a particularly productive evening programming new synth sounds. Today I will see how well they marry with a song in progress.

3. This morning I called Sookie 'poopie-butt'. I have no idea where that sprang from.

speedy healing to the kitteh, octo.

msali - when you come back to the states will it be in NC again or elsewhere?

1. Friday the steri strips & sutures came out from my wrist surgery last week & it was wonderful to have relief from the incessant itching. Doc says the incision looks very good & gave me some bendy rehab exercises to do along with massaging in vitamin E.

2. We're doing an installation for a client tomorrow that I've been working to find for about 5 years now, & are aiming to do a top notch job so he loves us & gives us more projects.

3. We watched ACC bball games yesterday at the local pub & it was so fun to be in a place where everyone was cheering & tuned in. We're serious about our college basketball here in the mid-Atlantic.

It's going to be a busy week.......

Taking a break from working outside. I'm installing a drip irrigation system that I picked up on super clearance during winter.

Having difficulty with the stupid time change. Even my cell phone didn't update. Maybe there's a warp in the space time continuum here.

Windows are open which makes for happy kitties.

3b. Wow, the driving practice did not go as I expected. I managed to drive my boyfriend's car full speed onto the curb where we were trying to park and rammed it into the stairs of a shopping center, since I managed to suddenly confuse the brakes and the accelerator. No one was hurt, thank god. My boyfriend's car is not in good shape and I am feeling incredibly guilty and stupid. The police and a tow truck were called, everyone was super helpful and nice. I'm going to pay for the repairs/a new car whichever is less (the car was only about $3k to begin with), but am feeling very shaken. I think the brake/accelerator confusion was because I was overconfidently wearing shoes with heels.

1. Had a lazy Friday night. Had brunch with a Mefite on Saturday and got another haul of great baby stuff, including a Moby wrap and the famous "Arm's Reach Co-Sleeper" bassinet. Went to bed very early both nights. I've found going to bed early is the key to not feeling miserable the day after.
2. Made it to church almost on time- good thing, since I was assisting at the altar today! Had to stand in as chalice bearer, too. Drained the small amount of wine left in the chalice after, as is customary for chalice bearers; wondered if anyone would be scandalized. If they were, nobody said anything.
3. Talked over loan options with Pastor for our latest building project. They're all bad (more than we can afford, adjustable rate with liens on all of our property). Anyone happen to have $450k or so they'd like to donate to us? TIA.

Besides the things TPS did...

1. Spent most of the weekend transcribing old newspaper articles into a usable form for some research I'm doing.
2. Preached today at my internship church. It went well and we had a really healthy turn out for the Spring Forward event. I had to setup the altar today because the person who was suppose to forgot about the time change (he walked in halfway through service. heh.)
3. I have some reading to do but, well, all I want to do is pass out on the couch.

1. Spring break. Ending. Man, it's been a weird week full of free stuff.
2. I just realized my M key is detached. ?!
3. I do not know where to start. People are fascinating.

1. Well, the neighbor finished emptying her house, said her tearful goodbyes and drove off with her daughter and son-in-law (after more 'one more things' than Lt. Colombo). Sad. Tired.

2. I now have easy mobility thanks to the 20-year-old Subaru Legacy she sold me cheap. But I'm too tired and achy to drive anywhere today. Haven't decided whether to name it "The Ancient Legacy" or, because it's a white car with the letters RUM in its license number, "The White Rum Runner".

3. I am also taking unofficial custody of a very fluffy outdoor cat who she had fed and kept a bed for without ever naming her anything but Kittycat. Dammit, I'm a DOG person, but if I'm going to leave space on my porch for her dishes and bed, then I'm claiming some naming rights. Considering the success of another cat named after a 19th Century U.S. President, I hereby name thee: Grover Cleveland.

1. It's been a pretty good weekend aside from the kid's jetlag which is doing a number on the whole household. She goes to sleep at a reasonable hour and then without fail wakes about 3 hours later (regardless of time of sleep and whether or not she naps during the day) and is then up for the next 3-4 hours. Which is about as much fun as you can imagine. We spent the whole day today outside in the sunshine so hopefully her pineal gland will reassert itself soon.

2. Having been on vacation for 3 weeks, I only got in a couple of runs, so today's (previously super easy) 4 miler was rough. I have a 10km race in a few weeks and will certainly not be breaking my PB.

3. My own jetlag put me behind when I started working again, so tonight I'm spending a couple of hours in front of the computer, assuming the kid doesn't wake.

3) Did some laundry

Feel better octokitty!

Went to UW's Chazen Gallery.

My father told me my brother has a carotid tumor. My uncle had a benign one which was removed without incident. I emailed my brother asking if he wanted me there, but he has not responded....although several people have told me they have not received the emails I've sent through Verizon.

I think that Dharun Ravi should be horsewhipped.

Not at all, Ardiril, and tonight she sleepwalked!

1. Weekend is gone.
2. Painted feature walls in the kids' rooms over the weekend and learned something new - bright orange paint doesn't cover well because it's tinted from a clear base instead of a white or coloured base, so it took three coats to look right (plus undercoat).
3. Have a splitting headache and no drugs with me here at work.

gaspode, one of my daughters sleepwalks - not long ago, she managed to persuade her younger sister to go for a wander up the street with her in the early hours of the morning (younger sister is a slow waker and just did what she was told).

I used to be a sleepwalker. The last time was in my mid-twenties. Mum found me outside at night looking for a cat that was inside. It was a good thing I wore pjs.
