Is it just me or are the Oscars especially painful this year? Billy Crystal is flat and shticky and the whole thing seems sort of tired.

I do not understand how these shows get put together. "Another re-cut montage of the same 25 films we feature in a montage every year?" "Perfect!" "Several minutes of random acrobatics instead of giving award winners a few more seconds to say thank-yous?" "Totally!"

They're all kind of bad, but this one doesn't seem any worse than the others. I like Penelope Cruz's dress.

I just saw the Artist in an old timey theater, so maybe I'm just in a rosie glow of MOVIES GOOD.

I admit Billy Crystal cracked me and my Bear up throughout. And a lot of the presenters were truly funny too. In final proof of our bad taste, we watched and laughed at all the Ellen DeGeneres JC Penney ads.

Plus, mostly gorgeous dresses this year. Long but fun for us.
