New sidebar art for a new year! Thanks to our photographers arse_hat, DarkForest and his kids, -t, and shane.
Thanks for putting my photo up. My kids always say I'm famous if I get a photo on the sidebar. Now they're famous. :)
That was taken by my son last Spring. He was 5 and 1/2 at the time. Both my kids take a lot of pictures and a surprising number of them turn out interesting (at least to me).
Aw, thanks! That was one of the 1st photographs I ever took and posted to the 'Net! It really is petrified hot chocolate in the bottom of a mug.

It was the '90s. I had a 'blog I posted that photo on. We read personal 'blogs back then -- Facebook didn't exist yet, but, thanks to MeFi magic, we all had beta invitations to Orkut, the Russian MySpace, which eventually turned into a kind of pre-Facebook overrun by oversexed Brazillians looking for hook-ups and spamming each other with pr0n sites. Quonsar was all over MeFi making us spew coffee on our keyboards. Taz hadn't yet started MeCha but was making cool "tiles" I used on my site. iconomy had her iconomy site, which was truly iconomic. dong-resin got a book deal by bashing Paris Hilton on his 'blog. I walked twenty miles uphill (both ways) to my cubicle job whre I surfed the 'Net all day. You kids have it good now...

We said things like that back then, "lerve" for "love" instead of these ubiquitous damn ♥s, and we knew REAL mêmes like Oolong and All Your Bases Are Belong To Us, and we knew "même" was spelled Frenchy-like with an accent on it, and...
