open source intelligence & forecasting I don't have a lot of deep thoughts about this right now but after signing up for weekly emails from Stratfor and IHS Global Insight I find that I learn a lot more from 500-2000 words from them about geopolitical or economic policy issues than from days and days of "journalism". Newspapers seem to focus a lot more on the daily back and forth whereas there's a type of content that's a lot more useful in figuring out "hey what is this about?"
