If I am ever on Wait Wait Don't Tell Me, and I win, I will ask, on the air, if it is permissible to substitute Sylvia Poggioli's voice for Karl Kassel's on my VM. No offense to Karl but I have a thing.

That's pretty funny. I was surprised the first time I saw a picture of Diane Rehm a couple years ago. She's much younger and more vivacious than I had pictured her - her voice sounds much older because of her muscle disease.

She's a smart lady, though. I like listening to her show.

I loved this and just wish there were more. It's hard to believe he hadn't seen Ira Glass and Terry Gross before the cartoon.

I had never seen a picture of terry gross before five seconds ago and my mental picture was really freakin accurate, right down to the pixie cut.

Everyone else however, now looking up, yeah look nothing like what I had in my head.

That's the thing about radio. The people don't usually look like you expect. In my radio sidekick days, everybody expected me to look like Jimmy Olsen from the Superman comics (partly because my voice didn't fully 'mature' until I was out of the biz).

That guy's depiction of Steve Innskeep looks JUST like the real Peter Sagal (who I'd always pictured as looking like the Verizon Wireless guy until we went to a taping a couple years back).

Yes, that is totally my mental picture of Terry Gross, including the squinting eyes (I don't know what she looks like in real life).
