Candi Staton - Victim (8:35, YouTube; 1978) Random shot of disco for your whatever today is wherever you are.
I am absolutely LOVING this - thank you so much. Candi Staton has one of the all-time great voices, totally distinctive, you know it's Candi within a couple of seconds of hearing her.

As a teenager in the 70s, disco was the soundtrack of my youth. My music tastes are eclectic, I love rock, country, classical, folk, all sorts of stuff and I know it's not cool to admit to liking disco, but I love it, I'm a total disco bunny. Nothing makes me want to dance like disco does.

Most of the music on my mp3 player that I run to is 70s disco, classic stuff like the Detroit Emeralds, Spinners, Gloria Gaynor, Donna Summer, Van McCoy, Stylistics - I've even got the Crown Heights Affair on there! I really wish I'd been able to go to one of those NYC discotheques I saw in Saturday Night Fever, or that I could do The Hustle.

Heh, a (presumably) disco-loving 5th grade teacher taught us all The Hustle in the dance portion of elementary school PE in the early 1990s.

We learned the hustle in the 80s too. Not sure why that would be with the Virginia Reel and Mexican Hat Dance as part of your basic PE curriculum.
