Seeking Couch to Surf Early Dec. A friend of mine in Oakland passed away a few weeks ago, →[More:] and his memorial celebration is Dec 3 in Berkeley. I am trying to make it work for me to fly down and wonder if there is a place in the Bay Area where I could crash for two or so nights.

I would probably fly into either SFO or OAK and take public transit, which I am fairly familiar with down there. If you can do this, email me at the one in my profile.

The people who are my usual goto in that area are MeFites rtha and gingerbeer who are two wonderful women with a guestroom and big hearts. Also cats, in case that matters one way or the other. If you want to ping them and say you're a friend of mine, please feel free. I'm sorry about your friend.

Thank you Jessamyn (and chewie and elsa). My guestroom in the Bay Area has always been, for the past 15 years, the house of the decedent. So it would be rather hinky of me to ask to stay there, and besides, with their daughters home for this, and other family, probably impossible anyway.

Also, I have a couple people on FB who might do it but 1) do not want to ask directly and force anyone to say no, and 2) the partner of the decedent is on my FB and I do not want to put her in the position of feeling she has to put me up in order to have me there.

danf, I think facebook's got it set now so that you can exclude individual people from posts -- where it says "public" or "custom" at the bottom of the status box, click on it, switch to "custom" and it'll give you an option of typing in people to exclude.

Thanks occhiblu. . .this memorial is Dec 10. . .I thought that it was the 3rd, so I have a bit more time.
