I'm supposed to be a Beta tester for D3 as well, but haven't rec'd the email, the bastards.

I dunno. The time I sank into Diablo 2 warns me to just pretend this game doesn't exist when it comes out.

Thankfully SWToR beta bored the hell out of me so I don't have to worry about that one becoming an addiction.

were, I'm supposed to be testing that one too, this weekend. The installation process for the client was a nightmare, the security they impose is over the top (FIVE security questions? My bank and credit cards need two at most) and if the game's boring as you say I'll be disappointed.

But I for one am having a blast with D3. Even though the beta's easy as pie (as it's meant to be, being mainly a tutorial level) I like the changes they've made.

A lot of friends have been very impressed with SWToR, it just did not seem to offer anything new to me. I have already played WoW, Rift, and LotRO and mechanics-wise it was just the same game, different setting. I am more than a bit burned out on this style of game right now and the only MMO on the horizon that I have any real interest in is Tera Online, mainly because of the different style of combat.

I do not care for the Prequels and I do not care for the setting of this game. Jedi and Sith are running around everywhere but they are no more special than bounty hunters, smugglers or common troopers. It just doesn't feel like Star Wars to me and I was not interested in the story at all. And this game is very story-driven so if you don't care about the story it definitely hurts the experience a great deal.

I have no doubt that if you can get into the storyline the game will be enjoyable because there is a ton of voice acting and it really feels like you are playing a single player RPG rather than an MMO most of the time. Constantly between quests you have little scenes that play out for you, giving you various dialogue choices (usually a good, neutral or evil choice, tied in with the Light/Dark Sides of the Force) and if you are into the story these will probably be neat. If you want to skip past the story like I did, they just get on your nerves after a while. I didn't get to play long enough to hit the end game, but the leveling process felt more like a chore than a joy to me. It could be that the gameplay itself picks up a lot in the late levels.

Gotta agree with weretable and the undead chairs, they are all too much the same, though I have a SW beta invite for this weekend. I've got friends who will play like fiends, and I'll probably fall behind and finally lose interest, because I just don't want to spend the time like I used to. I actually really enjoyed Fallen Earth for a while, but had trouble (or lost interest) about the time where you sort of transfer to the second tier (level 20-25ish?).

Will have to pick up Diablo III, though. (I blew through D2 on a barbarian when it came out too :D) Thank you for the videos, WolfDaddy. Ha, a pet chicken that picks up gold for you. Well, who can argue with that? It looks very similar but different enough for grins, I guess?

I am soooooo jealous, I want to be so badly but no luck so far!
