I baked my first cheesecake! What have you done lately that you're proud of? It was a red velvet cheesecake I decided to bake for my father's birthday. I'm especially proud of it because my dad loves baking cheesecakes and thus the bar is set pretty high.

What have you done lately that you feel really great about?
Last month I built my first bicycle wheel.

Doohickie, I used to build bicycle wheels when I was in high school. The shop I worked in (now defunct, in northern NJ) sponsored a couple of USCF racer who were pretty good, and I built their wheels. It was immensely satisfying; twenty-some years later I still miss that job. I see you have a truing stand, but how did you dish your wheel?

As for me, my dog had what I think was an extinction burst today in our loose-leash walking training. Only time will tell if it was an extinction burst or a random losing-of-mind, but I'm hopeful that after THREE YEARS OF DAILY WALKS she is finally getting it.

I started running (with a group) in May. Next Tuesday we are running our first 10km. I am amazed and so proud of being able to do this. I know for many of you who are fit and/or runners, 10km is nothing, but for me, an overweight 50-something starting from a base of zero fitness, it's a remarkable achievement.

I have been cooking like a mad fiend since we got back to Brazil. I have always liked to cook, but my interest has waned over the past few years.
But these past few months have found me cooking a great deal for family and friends. I'm not ready for Top Chef, but for a home cook, I am getting quite good, and I am interested in branching out and trying new cuisines. Dog food, for instance. I started making my dog her own food at home, and she's never been healthier. That makes me really proud!

I made a good graph for work and my boss's boss liked it, and even said thank you to me, which is RARE. So that made me feel good.

I'd hit a plateau in my holy god it's early workouts, so I joined a 24 hour gym and had a great one at you've got to be kidding me o'clock.

Senyar, I am always impressed and inspired by your running achievements!

I made 20 Christmas ornaments (10 different designs) out of stained glass to give as Christmas gifts.

I quietly, thoughtfully, and calmly discussed a stressful family problem, coming to a reasonable solution and a loving resolution instead of giving in to my inner brat whose feelings were hurt.

I have just about finished tracking down and collecting Christmas gifts for my husband, all of which are things he REALLY REALLY WANTS, or will once he knows they exist.

I've been diligently doing my physical therapy, which kinda sucks but I AM DOING IT.

And I made All The Pies.

I just flipped it over in the stand.

The first 10k for anyone is a big achievement, regardless of fitness level. I think you've done amazingly well to get to this stage so fast, to be honest. Good luck and enjoy the run. Remember - pain is just one of the rewards of running ;-)

I've done nothing lately that I feel really great about, but that's just a timing issue ;-)

First, holy crap that is one fine looking red velvet cheesecake!
Also awesome, you guys are all doing great stuff. Super cool on the homemade dog food.

After saying I would get back to art for years (didn't go to art school, should have, long boring story), I am six months back in with both feet and rather proud of this fellow.

Thanks! Been teaching myself to use Copic markers for about 5 months.
Anyone else do Illustration Friday? I'm finding the weekly prompts oddly inspiring.
