I liked them a ton too. Read them in a big gulp almost as fast as I tore through the Girl With novels. Hoping the movie is great too. The novels are very visual but that is no sure fire predictor of big screen translation success.
Yeah, the concept is just the same, BP. The first book in the series is incredibly compelling though, and Jennifer Lawrence was awesome in Winter's Bone, so I'm looking forward to the film.
I liked Battle Royale way too much when I first saw it. I still have a copy. Guess I know what I'm watching tonight. After the wife goes to bed. She hates that kind of movie.
1. I can understand why people are into these novels. My wife read one, and hated it, mostly, I think because of the acknowledgement that the world is, indeed, close to being like this. For me, I would rather live in denial for a few more years, so I am staying away from them.
2. I hope that the movie is good. WAY back, I remember being SO excited about Dune, seeing it on the first night, etc., and finding it such a crappy movie (or at least so different than the movie I had in my head).
I found the books so easily readable, I plowed through them.
I haven't seen Winter's Bone, but she looks so much more like Glimmer than Katniss. Those full cheeks don't say starvation. Still, I am hoping the movies are good but I'm not sure how they are going to pull most of the stuff off.
I saw the trailer yesterday when we covered it on our site, and I'm actually excited about this, too. I think what I'll do, though, is see the first movie, then read the books, because that worked out well for me when I saw the first LOTR movie and I'm not one to jinx good book-to-movie adaptation experiences.
