Photos of the secret train platform beneath New York's Waldorf-Astoria hotel.
I wish they had looked in the car.

I was hoping that, too. Still, a cool collection of pics.

Me three! It's really odd that they're leaving it down there. I think it would be a good addition to the Roosevelt presidential library/museum.

There's a shit-ton of stuff like that under NYC. Just much easier to leave it there than go to the expense and trouble of remodeling and taking objects out. Back when urban archaeology was just exploding I spent a lot of time on these blogs and photosites.

More about this train platform, and how Roosevelt didn't really use it that much, and now with more Matt Lauer (and fakelore on the part of the transit authority). They get a little glimpse inside but not very much. Here's another video.

That's fascinating. Jason showed me the doorway from the street once when I was in NYC.

Oh, this is cool. I'm writing a story that takes place in underground spaces, so I'm sending out a special thank you for posting this!

Very cool. I love to read/see little known places like these.

Cool. It seems a shame that it's hidden away and disintegrating like that.
