Aakash Android tablet will sell in India for $35 [More:]
There's a video at the end of the article of the thing in use.
I think it is pretty awesome that it works so well already and that they prioritized video over some of the other features.
And I'm impressed that the next version will have 3G.
Plus 2 USB ports! Smart.

If the next version with the 3G ends up being sold here, I might have to get one.
I'd buy one today if I could get my hands on it. I'd buy two, give one to a poor kid or whatever, or maybe keep them both and rub them on my head or something.

What I'd like most is to be able to USB a keyboard into a tablet and go to town. Leave the laptop behind, just take this thing and a bitty keyboard (maybe one of those lighted flex jobs) and bang, on my way.

I could care less if it's the simplest text editor or whatever, just to be able to plug text into it without all this horses-ass finger-wavey jive, horribly slow -- I can't keep up with my thoughts with a keyboard in my hand, now I'm supposed to 'type' on the screen?

Forgetaboutit...

I've got a color Nook, it's cute as a bugs ear but pretty much worthless for text, or much else, truth be told. Tablets have promise but they're not there yet, but this one looks real good.

Anyways, me want, me want...

There are already tablets that you can use a keyboard with. That isn't something missing.

Reading the reviews the most common conclusion was 'mostly usable'. I'm guessing it never comes to the U.S., or if it does, vanishes almost immediately.
