What's got you smiling lately?→[More:] Recently, my very excellent friend wimpdork put this tune in my head. Now, whenever I've been feeling all grar and angsty, I sing it for a bit and it never fails to put a smile on my face.
My new apartment. I can hardly believe I live there. Most definitely the nicest and most accommodating place I've ever lived; it almost brings me to tears. Such a big difference from the last place, too, which was just full of compromises.
Miko - pictures please! So happy to hear you're settled and loving it.
The trees here in northern Ohio are at the peak of fall colors. Even on a rainy day it looks beautiful, all red and golden. I'm enjoying it and trying not to think about the coming snows.
The last thing that got me smiling was brunch -- a BLT made with parsley butter instead of mayonnaise plus lots of hot tea with lemon. I love these days when I can work from home.
Thinking about my old college roommates, who are coming to visit on Saturday for a few days. Haven't seen them for about 3 years (at another roommate's wedding in NZ).
Being in Ohio with my family. Diane became a grandma for the fourth time today - her daughter-in-law, Cassandra, delivered Ezra safely into the world. Next week another grandchild will be born to Diane's daughter. A time of joy for everyone.
(Also, Diane's outdoor cat loves me, lets me pick him up and carry him round like a baby, lying on his back in my arms, purring like a little engine.)
I let the cat outside this evening, and then all of a sudden she was walking around with a bird in her mouth. The lazy girl *never* catches anything she half-heartedly "hunts", and I was feeling sick as she was gobbling down feathers because I felt like it was my fault the bird was dead.
Then ikkyu2 came home and apologized for not having had time to pick up the dead bird that was on the patio this morning.
So, it's kind of a grossed-out smile, but at least my cat didn't kill the bird she ate. Yay?
