This made me laugh so fucking hard. I've been known to draw eyes on things with a Sharpie when I was younger.* I also used to love to stick googly-eyes on stuff, the last one being a Holga camera that I stuck two googly-eyes on and when people saw me looking at them with it, they'd laugh. This was a good thing.
*As a joke, I used to draw crossed eyes on my big toes that looked like flatworm eyes. I drew them on the end of my big toes with a Sharpie. Once we visited one of my aunts in the middle of summer when I was wearing flip-flops. My aunt was chatting with my mom I when I propped one leg on the other and pointed my toe right at her. She SCREAMED laughing and said, "Is your toe watching me?"
I drew the eyes on my toes several times that summer, but my aunt was the only one who ever saw them and gave me a reaction. I also drew the eyes on oranges and lemons in a different aunt's fruit bowl on the dining table during a visit, and heard back when that aunt asked my mom on the phone, "Did BP draw on our fruit? It's looking at us..."
After hermitosis made that spectacular mask out of googly eyes, I stocked up on googly eyes. I did glue a bunch to something, makes an awesome rattle.
The eyes have it.
