I don't have answers for you dawg my re-entry into wider personal networking is being thwarted by the fact that I'm not really useful.→[More:]

do you know a developer who can do X? no
do you know where I can find a place to say? no
do you know... NO

can't I just become a central network hub without being an asset to anyone? on some Kim K angle? I just want to be influential for no reason. lol

On a serious note though though I guess I just need to be even deeper entrenched in things in a continuous way so I can hook people looking for similar things up

That must suck. I don't know anything about networking either. So we can form a club maybe?

You win - clients are loving you!

So now you can say "I don't know but I'll check and get back to you" then you call any client with whom you haven't made recent contact and ask them. They may know, they will remember that you were thinking of them as knowledgeable-not just a paycheck, your name is fresh in their memory etc.

You joined the other side!

Oh my goodness, mightshould. I've never seen or heard networking explained in such an easy way. When you put it that way, it's not as scary/boring/fake as I've always thought it was. And I've been doing this for years (mostly in my personal life).

yeah definitely the number of people I want to keep in contact with on a basis that blurs the line between 'industry friend' and 'social friend' is like 500x–1000x the number of people who actually pay me. Just the 'legwork' aspect is a bit new but you just orient yourself to it
