Weekend plans? I'm waiting to board my Chicago flight, on my way to Ohio. How about you?
Work on setting up a shop in the corner of the garage, hang pegboard for tools, build a second workbench, start organizing my tools so that I can actually find stuff. Maybe a movie tonight and football tomorrow.
It's time to change the oil in my car. I have a hard time fitting under it and have to position it over a dip since my jack and ramps are too high. I am meticulous about maintenance since this car has to last a long long time.
Then there is the general list of basic homestead upkeep waiting. Since the weather is going to be nice I will probably overdo it .
Husband is on call today and got slammed with work all week, so it's just me and the kid all day today. I think we will go to the Bronx zoo for pretty much the whole day.
Tomorrow is a chill day. Football, beer, kiddo has ballet the morning, which I'll take her to. Need to do some work in there somewhere.
Gym this morning, baking sugar cookies and packing, then heading up to near Pittsburgh for a Halloween party tonight. Coming back home tomorrow morning (but have the day off work) to get ready for another crazy week.
Errands and general house stuff this morning. My mom and aunt are coming up this afternoon. We're going to the folk festival for dinner & wandering around. I went a couple years ago when my maternal grandmother was visiting and it was interesting.
I think tomorrow we'll have breakfast at one of the restaurants that was on Food Network's Diner, Drive-ins and Dives. I've been to the other place twice; it's pretty good. They have a blueberry muffin ice cream sandwich dessert which is oh so yummy (warm blueberry muffin split in half horizontal with a scoop of vanilla ice cream).
Gym and studying for exams today. I got the sweaters out and washed last weekend and now that they've dried I need to find a place for them in the closet. I have a sink full of wooly socks soaking. I decided that I will take a break from studying and start my second Entrelac sock. The partner has been done for a couple years and I'd like to wear them this winter.
bluesapphires: That blueberry ice cream sandwich sounds amazing.
First day I get to go to the NY Comic Con and hopefully record a podcast with my writers! Tomorrow, more Comic Con, and then I promised my boyfriend I'd be back in time to do laundry. And then, I think I'll bake a fish for dinner, too.
Leaving for work in 45 minutes. Then tomorrow I'm catering a party for my aunt, so I just got back from the store. That means cooking all day tomorrow then serving then cleaning up then home in time for bed in time for work on Monday morning. Whoo.
Gave a four-hour training session this morning, hit the sauna, re-writing my contract, and setting up the chessboard for salary/promotion negotiations on Thursday. Unngh.
Woke up late this morning. It's good to finally feel settled into our new place. We are hosting our first dinner party tonight. It's a bring your own plate/glass/silverware-type affair, since we still haven't fully kitted out the kitchen yet. I have to go over to a friend's house to borrow a big pot to cook the pasta in. Luckily, our friends are super laid back, and as long as the Argentine wine flows freely, I don't think anyone will complain.
Tomorrow, weather permitting, I'm gonna go sit on the beach. That's what I moved here for, right?
Sleep, grade papers, maybe watch a movie (I still haven't seen True Grit, which I've had from Netflix since the summer), make a frozen pizza (I'm a NY-style pizza gal, but the frozen Uno's pizzas are good). I'd like to go see my mom, but the thought of the four hour round-trip drive right now is exhausting. I feel selfish and guilty needing to rest today. She's going home on Thursday and will have round-the-clock in-home care. We're hoping her cognitive state improves once she's home, poor little thing.
I'm watching the Michigan/Michigan State game at the moment. 3rd quarter, we're losing 14-7, but the Spartans just fumbled. So here's hopin'.
So far, I've watched a new episode of MLP, played some chess, and written review materials for an upcoming calculus test. I need to write more calculus stuff, and finish writing up some feedback about the textbook I'm beta-testing. And get groceries and get food cooked for the upcoming week. And tomorrow morning is flyball practice, which - between driving time and practice itself - eats up most of the morning and usually leaves me a bit tired.
Worked today. Now drinking beer and watching the OK State/Texas game. Will be drinking more beer later and hopefully watching the Rangers clinch the ALCS. Got some Kung Pao Chicken from my favorite local takeout joint for dinner.
Tomorrow, work the early shift, then lunch with the folks and prepping for an upcoming Genetics exam while watching NFL (and fantasy updates) and then season premiere of The Walking Dead.
Last night my employer treated us to employee night at Six Flags. Since it was a private function, the lines were short and we rode every rollercoaster in the park, some of them twice. The weather was perfect. Riding some of the bigger coasters at night, we saw HUGE bats swooping around eating the bugs attracted to the huge lights at the base of the tracks. I saw a lot of co-workers and met their families, and got to introduce them to Arnold, my partner. Since we are both rollercoaster fanatics, it was pretty much a perfect evening.
Today we went to Atlanta's Scottish Highland Games, which we attend every year that we can, and it was a blast. The weather was perfect, the bagpipes were playin', and OMG there were gorgeous men in kilts as far as the eye could see. We watched some of the games, saw a couple of regiments marching, and my partner bought both of his brothers a cool t-shirt with their family name and the tartan on it.
I'm hoping tomorrow will involve mostly staying home, and then (as ufez pointed out) the season premiere of The Walking Dead.
Went to a large Flea Market this morning, and wandered around for a couple of hours. It's the ending of my week of vacation, which has been wonderful, and I hope this content feeling lasts.
Tomorrow, another estate auction. Should be interesting.
