Here's my first world problem (also Apple-related): I preordered an iPhone 4S and expected to be back in time for it, but a combination of a meeting running longer than usual and the UPS guy coming earlier than usual means I will only be able to get my hands on it on Monday. No big deal of course, but boo!

Maybe not only first world since taxes are universal but one day, I would like it if payroll/ADP could get my City of Pittsburgh income tax withholding correct. It's 3% and payroll has been withholding 1% all year and I can't seem to get them to change it.

My first world problem this week is self-inflicted: Wednesday I washed a pair of pants with my Bose earphones in the pocket, and totally destroyed them. I use my headphones every day on my train ride to and from work (and sometimes at home listening to podcasts and such). Now I'm listening via crappy, give-away earphones that came with an old MP3 player and sound like tin cans on a string. It'll be awhile before I can afford another pair of Bose ones. Argh.

Headphones are one of my most often recurring first world problems. I must be cursed, they break on me constantly. When I flew in August, I stole a lot of airplane headphones, and have been using those. They only last a few weeks before giving out, but it seems like the ones I paid for did, too. :X

Headphones here, too. I need a new pair again. Why is it so hard to find on-ear or over-the-ear headphones with a volume control on the cord? Sheesh.

Yes, headphones! Always breaking! Eideteker, I am always looking for the ones with no volume control but always finding them. They make the cord swing weird when I go running.

And my lips! Why are they always dry even with chapstick?

My first world problem is that I have about 5 REAMS of paper in various piles on my desk, and I am deep in a tangle of errors involving a missing AFF history in Title 36, section 5122. Don't know what the heck I'm talking about? You're lucky!!

My first world problems are that I haven't had steady work in a year and I haven't seen a doctor in ten.

Damn. I just got Stanza and a crapload of books. This sucks. Thanks for the info Trurl.

I updated to iOS 5 and it erased all my books. ಠ_ಠ

Also, from the (abandoned) Stanza support forums:

"What are the odds of Stanza become open source if Amazon decide to drop support for it? For that matter, what are the odds of a company rep actually responding to this thread?"

The proposal was submitted both on this forum and via direct mail to Amazon - neither was even acknowledged. Amazon is quite clearly not interested in even discussing it."

Fuck Amazon so hard. They bought a fantastic service for the sole purpose of killing it. Then again, they have no problem forcing temp workers to slave in hotboxes till they drop, so why expect them to give a whit about customers?

Anyway, I hope it's possible for the jailbreak scene to examine the code of the Stanza app and update it for the future. I'd jailbreak my stuff for that alone.

There are a lot of people posting comments to the review part of the Stanza app complaining about this. I suppose i cold post a comment there but what difference would it make? And as well, should I never again update my iPhone to keep Stanza running? This really sucks.
