Formula for a Saturday evening in:→[More:] tollhouse cookies, Rear Window, baked stuffed potatoes, and a bottle of Lambrusco.
I had a very late night last night and with a MeFi meetup this afternoon (looking at jars of body parts and critters at the Royal College of Surgeons Museum, which was as awesome as it sounds) and a run scheduled for tomorrow morning, I need a quiet evening.
I didn't head over to the pub after the meetup, so I'm in my jammies, on the sofa, and I'm going to watch The Kids Are Alright. I've made a big bowl of fruit salad which I'll pick at throughout the evening.
A friend has been treating me not-so-well this week, so I decided to batten down the hatches tonight and indulge myself a bit. It's a little reminder to me: hey, you deserve to be treated well! Don't settle for less!
sperose, I would love to hear more about this pumpkin dip!
I have no idea. I am just going to vegetate in front of the TV and probably order some food at some point. The less I have to think, the better. Brain is off for the weekend (no, seriously, I just watched the G.I. Joe movie). Well, the day, at least.
Having a social life, a job, and a hobby/craft in NY is exhausting.
The boy and I are seeing Fiona Apple and Jon Brion at an intimate little club here in L.A. I've been working double shifts at work all week, so after that, I'll probably just want to come home and collapse.
I made 2 batches, one as the recipe states and one with honey instead of brown sugar, since there's a girl in the class who said she doesn't eat sugar. (I forgot to ask if honey was okay, but I'm hoping that it will be.)
Netflix, Pot roast, season premiere of SNL tonight (NBC is one of the few really consistent channels we get on our antenna, so yay). Got my 3rd neuopogen injection this morning for bone marrow stem cell donation on Monday; it was nice to be able to take a nap this afternoon on my couch instead of trucking through work at the office!
Meeting friends for early evening drinks (and to feed the kid at a bar... this is her normal Saturday evening. Kid has been to more bars in her time alive than my mother has in her last 30 years). Then home and I work for 4 or so hours to make up for the day off when we move. Sigh.
Just got done doing aerobics all over the living room (I'm bored with the treadmill). Will eat leftovers for dinner, then probably read books and/or knit all evening while a baseball game or the radio hums in the background. A very typical night.
Not writing this abysmal paper i am doing a horrible job at. Not studying in any way, shape or form as i have had enough wine where I have made myself unaccountable. Anything not requiring focus of any kind and neglect of studies, which I am avoiding the word hate about.
Ugh, unintelligible noises.
Agatha Christie mystery (that I've already read) on Netflix; random bad-smelling stuff that helps get rid of calluses on my feet, along with white cotton socks; a nice Manhattan; an overcast afternoon/evening. Oh! and a cat on my lap.
Another Netflixer here. First season of Breaking Bad just appeared on their streaming site. I only started watching near the second half of the first season, so I've got some catch-up to play. Puttanesca for dinner, despite the fact that I've been eating way too much pasta lately. (Saves me from having to go to the store.) And I think I'll also probably deal with foot calluses now that I've been reminded. Thanks, occhiblu!
Oh! Steampunk llama. aka Futurellama. Tumblr link
[Warning: self-link. But it's a sketch-to-completion series of pics, and is how I spent my Saturday from start til now.]
Such a great photo, occhiblu and mudpuppie! Thanks for sharing!
Glinn, my inner dialogue went like this: "Steampunk llama? [click] STEAMPUNK LLAMA! AWESOME!"
I know what you mean about being chicken --- I was the first time, too. But just GO and then the feeling goes away and you're just there with all these people who will be smart and funny and pleasant!
Reporting: I skipped the tollhouse cookies for blueberry pancakes last night... does that mean I have to make tollhouse cookies for brunch today? I am game for it.
