food and/or italian-speaking people what is this? Billed as some sort of pesto, label says "crema de pomodori secchi", lady at the deli is like this will work if you want something spicy but it tastes overwhelmingly oily to me. Is it supposed to be a concentrate or something?
Literally, I think this means "Cream of Dried Tomatoes" - possibly a sauce made with olive oil and sundried tomatoes? This type of sauce was served with antipasto - quite common when I visited Italy. Sometimes served on toasted bread, sometimes mixed in with pasta as a side dish, both hot and cold. You'd only need a little of this (just like pesto) to add to pasta. My advice would be to warm a few spoonsful in a microwave and mix in with some cooked pasta. Then serve this with salad and some meat or eggplant parmesan.

I see. Yeah I mean I've been tolerating it and eating it as a condiment but I'm like I have to be missing something it's some imported (slightly pricey) little jar maybe it deserves a different approach. If I remember correctly it was lined up with a bunch of mustards(!) I'm like I have no idea what any of this is about I'm your regular Ragu or equivalent eater lol

Sun-dried tomatoes, puréed and mixed with oil, probably. Strongly flavoured but not really spicy. Nice spread thinly on toast with cream cheese, or that might be just me...

I would suggest adding a bit of salt and pepper to make the flavor pop more.

Susurration has it. It's funny, though, I wouldn't expect it to be spicy and it sounds like it isn't.
