Well, hello! I think it is a pretty good Monday. At least in my neighborhood. The sun is out and I did a lot of work over the weekend in case the kid's daycare was closed today. But it's open and I can have a cruisy day and pick her up early. Yay!
It's a holiday here, so of course the weather is cold and although it hasn't rained yet, the sky is overcast and the rain looks as if it'll arrive at any minute. This is our last holiday weekend until Christmas, and it's so disappointing when the weather's bad.
I've had a good day - I moved my spare bedroom round, so my desk is now by the window. I need to get a venetian blind for the window, but it's a big window so I'll have to get the blind made-to-measure. there's a place nearby that does them, I'll pop in and see them tomorrow.
Happy Monday! It's sunny and clear and I am delighted to report that in our town, the effects of Irene were about the same as a regular ol' rainstorm. I am so happy to have been overprepared! (And felt totally justified when I saw the nightmarish footage from Vermont. Yikes.)
My Monday is a big one; I'm starting school today (part-time MBA program.) I have my first-day-of-school outfit on and a coworker made me first-day-of-school cookies (because they are, amazingly, shaped like little schoolhouses.)
And then I get to go on a date. I'm so busy trying to decide which of these to be more nervous over that I'm actually not nervous about either.
I just found out that there was 6 inches of water in my apartment and everything on the floor was ruined, so not the greatest Monday. But things could always be much worse. At least I have a place to stay.
Thank you, kindly... I'm a bit under the weather today myself (women stuff), but Jon was kind enough to do the laundry and pick up some deli (he's a saint), so there are clean skivvies and chicken salad, and I'm going to the U.S. Open tomorrow (yay!) and the weather's supposed to be beautiful. I've been looking forward to it all summer. Going to the Open a few days at the end of the summer makes going back to work a bit more palatable (I know, I'm very, very spoiled, but the summer always goes by so fast). I also just saw Duck Amuck (on Youtube) for the first time (Jon was wearing his Duck Amuck t-shirt, and I'd never seen the cartoon). That'll put a smile on anyone's face.
So sorry to hear it, amro. Having been flooded out myself a couple of years ago (on Christmas Eve!), I know how messy and disruptive it is. So, so sorry.
Enjoy the Open, Pips. I came across it channel-hopping today and wondered if you were there.
Appreciate the comments, folks. Chicken salad, Duck Amuck, and the U.S. Open... I am indeed a fortunate woman. The chicken salad is especially good, fresh made, from this little neighborhood Italian deli. They make their own roast beef that's to die for, too. Nice and rare.
I love the WB cartoons, too, TL. I don't know how I never saw that one. It is a riot. I always loved the Gossamer one, too, where Bugs does his hair and nails, and the one with so-called Baby Finster (Baby Finster shaving, and smoking a cigar, with a tattoo...).
There's a good match with Sharapova on now, closer than expected, though Sharapova seems to be running away with it in the third set (or maybe not...). I think Monfils is up next, who I love to watch. He's such a showboat, and so fast. Even if one's not a tennis fan, he's fun to watch. Makes me wish I did have a ticket for today. Maybe I'll get to catch him later in the week. I'll definitely wave when I'm there, senyar. : )
Happy-err-Monday! I awoke in a not so unexpected strange place, with a rather deep cough in my throat. I went to the local pharmacist and was given the expected "dry cough" medication. DAMN STUFF THREW ME FOR A LOOP! I spent the better half of the day in bed thinking we were all made of BROWNIES. I can barely type straight. Stupid medicine...
