How do you keep Firefox or Explorer on the screen at the same time as MS Word [More:]without having to switch back and forth? I just want to type in MS Word while still being able to view what's on Firefox. Is it impossible because the computer can't figure out which program you're trying to work on? If it can figure out when you minimize a screen that you're no longer working on that screen, why can't it let you have two screens open and have some way to tell it which screen you're working on?
Can't you minimize them so they're side-by-side? That's what I do when I'm moving data from one file to another. Perhaps I'm misunderstanding the question.

Shrink/resize them by using the gizmo in the lower right corner of each so that each only takes up half of your screen. Put one on the left and the other on the right with no overlap.

Pretty sure Windows 7 has this built in, not that that helps you if you're not running Win7.

In XP, right click on the task bar and select "Tile windows vertically"

In Win7 click and hold the top a program window and drag it to the extreme right or left to PIN it to that side. To return a program window to full size, click and drag the top of the window to the extreme top.

ooh I found it! I have windows vista 2007 and you right click on the task bar in the teeny tiny space after the Start button or in the space before all the icons on the right, and select Show windows stacked (or Show windows side by side).

Hay! That's a good tip. I never would have found that on my own. THANKS!
