I'm sitting in front of my AC with the cat. The dog, apparently, is camped out in front of her food bowl until dinner time. She could be in here with me! I think I'll feed her a few minutes early so she can relax.

Things are good with me at the moment - diet and health are on the up, weight is on the way down, and I have some confidence in myself, which is unusual.

Lucy is asleep next to me on the sofa, her face and paws twitching in a dream. I watched a movie I enjoyed tonight (Whatever Works, a Woody Allen film starring Larry David) and I'm catching up with all the trashy TV I recorded during the week.

I'm intoxicated.

There's a pile of cherry tomatoes within arm's reach, and I get to go home soon and snorfle some cat belly. Those are good things.

Our lovely new bed... it's a giant platform of comfort, and with the bedroom door closed, the air conditioner does a decent job. Plus we're gonna order some grub from the diner (the stove is off limits in this heat).

Good:
- a cool bath
- peppermint soap
- orange soda
- a freezer full of ice cubes (I've been amassing them in gallon ziplocs) and Italian ice
- avocado with sweet miso dressing on a bed of cucumbers
- new pillows

That should do it!

Too hot in New Hampshire to be outside today, for me, so I spent the day inside catching up on all sorts of things. Making pasta salad for dinner and tomorrow. Finally ascending from a 2-3 month depression and getting ready to get back to the gym, adore the out-of-doors and find a job.

Sometimes the days are pretty tough but through it all, Life feels good and I am deeply grateful.

I left work around 4 today. My office is in an interior part of the building with no windows. I was shocked to see that it was as dark as night, with huge flashes of lightning. I have to walk a block-long path outside from the hospital to the parking garage. I watched the rain come down in sheets and then decided to just get wet. I took off my shoes and sprinted across. Got absolutely drenched but so what. It isn't cold and its just water. Plus it was really fun and it felt good to run barefoot in the rain.

I bought myself a vanilla bean frappucino today and actually made eye contact with the cashier and it was quite tasty and made me happy and gave me something to add to my small gestures list.

I just made a damn fine platter of currywurst and I have some tasty rye bread. I have fresh red raspberries waiting to be turned into milkshakes. As well, 4:20 came about 8:00 am. I may have some sherry later.

A negroni with green chartreuse? I'm having a hard time imagining that. Plus I'm hung up on ruining the pretty color of campari & sweet vermouth.

In other good news, I have 4 intoxicatingly ripe peaches, some heavy cream and some raspberries that I have whizzed into sauce. Yum.

I have seen Triode (online) today. That is a good thing!
