Mustache protector / guard / sling / something? Help me out. I swear that I've seen illustrations of a gadget that a man would wear that covered his mustache, presumably to protect it while he slept. It was like a surgeon's mask, with ties that went over the ears.
The hipster obsession with mustaches is making this a difficult Google search.

Men's grooming is another possible approach.

Antique mustache guard. Another.

The old fashioned ones are closer to the ones I have pictured in my head. I see a man in striped pajamas and a nightcap.

When I went to the Celestial Seasonings plant, they made a man put a hairnet over his beard.

I recall Hercule Poirot being awakened in Murder on the Orient Express at one point. He exits his compartment wearing one. I can't find a picture on the inarwebs thought.

The moustache snood or band.

A related item: the moustache cup.

Colonel Melchett wears one in the last episode of 'Blackadder Goes Forth'.
