Ooo! I know this one!!

This is the result of a setting in format cells. Highlight the cells, go to Format Cells, and then in the Custom section put brackets [] around the h that symbolizes hours. Your current format should be showing in the Custom box. That will clue Excel in that you want it to keep counting past 24 hours.

Awesome! There is a custom format already defined for this in the version of Excel I use (2003) - [h]:mm:ss, so it was a simple couple of clicks to solve.

It's just as easy in Google Docs - click 'Format', then 'Number', then choose 'hours'
