Pretty incredible. . .During "Sunshine of Your Love," Clapton somehow put his jacket on in the middle of his solo, and then had it off again at the end of the song.
Nice. Far from a wasted evening! We have some different favorite moments from the films, but great list. As I was scrolling I was getting concerned I didn't see the Who, was glad it was there. Also glad to see the Talking Heads make honorable mention.
These are not so much my favorite moments as they are the best clips that fit together in a playlist. Although I am not crazy about the musical portion of "Psycho Killer", I do think that the entire performance is one of the best pieces of concert filmmaking we have. Also, apparently I am in the minority, but I think the split-screen work in Woodstock works very well on the small screen of a computer or phone with its combining different angles and close-ups.
Hmm. Now that I look at the list, I see I that I must judge a clip by the charisma of the frontman -- Patti, Ozzy, Iggy, and HR. When vintage Ozzy is the worst of the bunch, that's a pretty good mix.
Youtube has a lot of nuggets to be found. The quality of some of the bootleg video I found last night is astounding. The biggest disappointment so far has been the poor sound quality of 80s hardcore videos.
These are great. I ended up giving my 8 year old a history lesson about Jimi Hendrix, Woodstock, and the Vietnam war while watching The Star Spangled Banner video. I'll be watching a few more of these tonight.
