Grapes and domain and stuff too complicated? Judge a wine by its label. Me, I have to judge them by the price, but I like this method too.
My sister-in-law will only buy wines that have an animal on them.

We don't let her go wine-shopping anymore.

Ha that's pretty good.
We have a special category of superficial marks of wine: south-african wines with Afrikaans' names. They sound very old fashioned and cute in Dutch. I suspect that those exact wines are marketed with English names in other regions of the world.
Names like: Nabygelegen, Drakenkloof, Altydgedacht, Allesverloren, Kleinbegin, Skoonuitsig, Vrede en Lust.

I really enjoyed the article. I don't drink very often so when I'm buying wine (usually to take to someone's house for dinner), I totally buy by the label. Either that or I ask for a recommendation from the employees, but then who's to say you share their taste? I feel better about making a choice based on label now. Thanks!

So do South-African wines have Afrikaans' names in non-English countries?
(I guess metachat is not the best place to ask that question)
