Very cool things happened for me on Saturday, and it wasn't the Rapture. →[More:]My family got invited to a massive crawfish boil hosted at a small local airport, thanks to a work contact of my husband's. This particular lovely grad student is married to a fellow who has his own small airplane, so he had flown down to Louisiana and returned with LOTS of live crawfish, which were big and tasty. He reportedly also was responsible for the home-brewed beer served at the event, which was excellent.
In addition, he was giving brief rides in his plane throughout the afternoon.
Not only did my kids get to see their first-ever up close look at a few small planes, he took us up for about 15 minutes for their first-ever ride above the ground. I'd sampled the lovely homebrew; he was thankfully sober.
My son was impressed with the mudbugs, but not so much with the plane ride. My daughter, on the other hand, took some help from the lovely grad student to eat the critters, but was happy and texting everyone she could as soon as we had our feet back on the ground.
Fun day. So awesome.
